For those who know these things, is there any word (rumor or otherwise...half-baked or otherwise) regarding a $6 Million Dollar Man box set (perhaps to include The Bionic Woman as well?).

Inquiring minds would like to know.

TIA!

If you mean a possible music boxset, the topic has been discussed in many threads before.
1. In the previous decade, Universal underwent a fire
2. Nobody know if the master tapes exist
3. Due to the nature of the series under Oliver Nelson, three seasons and 30 odd scores, will there be enough customers to buy that corpus?

I'd buy it in a heartbeat and would guess others would as well. A box set or just a series of releases would make me very very happy!

I'd love an SMDM set, especially for the Nelson music.

We've already got THE BIONIC WOMAN on CD:

[2018 edit: this has fallen prey to link rot, and I can't find a current address]

The Film Music of Joe Harnell 2-CD set is an absolute godsend all by itself for BW fans, and there are an additional four volumes of full episode scores.

This is MY elusive holy grail...about which none of us have heard a thing. I am currently ripping music from the dvd set, compiling it with artwork and covers and will post links when done. It is a labour of love requiring a lot of concentration though.

But the GREAT thing about this show's music is that so much of the action was scored with blocks of often uninterrupted music, which makes editing easier. I won't be including dialogue but have no problem with bionic sounds thru some parts, given that this may be the best cut I can find. No, it won't be perfect but it'll be as close as I can get it...and if anyone can do better, I'm more than happy to stand aside.

Let me know if any of you are interested...of course, I have this nightmare where I finish putting together Season 5...and then a box set is announced!!!

The Six Million Dollar Man soundtrack is one of my Holy Grails as well. Can't wait for the scores to "the Bionic Woman" and "The Secret of Bigfoot" to be on CD. I don't care if it breaks Lala Land Records financially. Make it so.

Were you guys asleep the week of Thanksgiving? This box set was released. It sold out already. It's really great, all Oliver Nelson, and all in STEREO!

This is the one TV score I'd jump on in a second. I'd love to have a box set of this music!

I am not familiar with the music for these shows, but am thrilled to read that there are Oliver Nelson fans out there. Nelson, from St. Louis, died very young and was primarily known in jazz circles as a saxophonist, composer, and arranger.

His album on Impulse records, Blues and the Abstract Truth, is a masterpiece and contains one of the great modern jazz standards, "Stolen Moments." That tune was even liked by Frank Zappa, who performed it on his last tour in 1988, and that was something because Zappa rarely performed other composer's works.

I wanted to rip cues from the box DVD set of season one but it was the bionic sound effects that defeated me. My favorite music was probably the Austin vs. John Saxon robot, but there is just so much in the way of eerie robot effects (which may or may not have been part of Nelson's music) that it kind of ruined the music for me.

If any of the sound effects are mixed into just one channel, what I've been able to get away with a handful of times is recording it, splitting the channels, copying the other channel with music only, and pasting it over the corresponding channel with the FX and problem solved. It does create this eerie weird stereo sound, but it's better than nothing.

Oliver Nelson - Day of the Robot (1974)

Music clips culled from the season 1 episode of "The Six Million Dollar Man" entitled "Day of the Robot" (1974) in which bionic man Steve Austin (actor Lee Majors) runs and fights the robot lookalike of Defense scientist Frederick Sloan (actor John Saxon) in the wilderness in order to avoid the stealing of a secret military device. Later on, at the park in Washington DC, Steve Austin is daydreaming and remembering his old pal playing tennis.

Composer Oliver Nelson first writes a hectic and hard-driven military score highlighting a snare drum and a timpani combined with a series of string sections and a brass section that ends up with the injection of electronic pulses from an analogue synthesizer. The last part at the park is deeply melancolic and atonal at once thanks to an analogue synthesizer.

I love Oliver Nelson but I don't actually know this, his most famous TV work! Must investigate some day...would definitely be interested in a release of his music since I hear good things about it all the time.
