Connery hated the original one-sheet poster that had him posing like a Medieval James Bond holding his spectacles rather than a gun with cartoonish images of the characters drawn around the poster. William of Baskerville was the enlightened Franciscan who fought against ignorance and fear, and it was marketed as something entirely different.
