Just got this Intrada release of BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY'S, and wonder about the absence of the Mr. Yunioshi track.Yes, the Mickey Rooney character was a real mistep in the film and embarrassingly so, a racist stereotype, but was the track left off this release as a matter of Intrada censorship, or was that track not used in the film? It's been a while since I've seen the film. Perhaps Intrada didn't think it flowed with the rest of the album, and they may be right, but with itunes, it's so easy to program tracks out. If Intrada actually censored the track, why would they include a picture of Mickey Rooney in the disc tray?

Aside from all that, I'm so pleased Intrada is relesing the actual film tracks from so many Mancini greats. I love them all, and TIFFANY'S is no exception, however, I'm personally more fond of the Mancini crime stuff: EXPERIMENT IN TERROR, TOUCH OF EVIL, ARABESQUE, WAIT UNTIL DARK, PETER GUNN, and MR. LUCKY, for example. Intrada's release of CHARADE was a real eye-opener. The original LP didn't reveal what a great crime score it was. That same kind of writing shows up in NIGHTWING as well. I would love to see Intrada give EXPERIMENT IN TERROR the same treatment. It seems they're going through the Mancini greats one by one.

There was no music for Mr. Yunioshi in the film. That music was created exclusively for the LP.

"Holly" (Side 2, Track 3) was also written especially for the LP.

Two tracks were added to the LP to compensate for the dramatic music that Mancini left off, to the composer's later regret. Still, "Holly" is a lovely cue.

See that? You answered your own question.

Well, I certainly could have done without that picture of Rooney. It's already forever marred the film itself, now it's forever marred the album graphics.

I think Rooney played a fairly funny character, and it's only a major problem for sensitive "PC" people, or possibly if you're watching in mixed company. If you can contextualize Rooney and put yourself in the head-space of the time and culture TIFFANY'S was made for, then it's okay.
