How true that ending can be in life. How often we don't really know what we really want in life when we calm down and start to think deeply.

…just ONE word: PLASTICS.

Christopher: You got it wrong. The one word was PLASTIC, not PLASTICS!

God, I was so in love with that movie! And I have never in my life seen a movie more times in a theatre than that one! It opened at the Four Star theatre in Los Angeles on Wilshire Blvd just east of La Brea and I went back so many times, one time sitting through it 3 times in a row. Once I went with my roommate Andy and his friend Lanny Swerdlow, who, though younger than Dustin Hoffman, had a startling resemblance to him. Just adored that movie!

I know, I know, and, believe me, I was quite aware of the irony when I broke down and added a comment here! (I had seen "THE GRADUATE" and clicked into it, not realizing at first that it had begun as one of THOSE postings!) But it had progressed beyond the initial picture puzzle and gotten into a discussion of the movie, and so I had to put away my antipathy and responded to the comments (as opposed to the initial posting). But thanks for noticing -- good catch! They don't let us get away with anything here!

Hey -- someone told me yesterday that Nichols had considered using Doris Day as Mrs. Robinson! Can't imagine NOT having that great performance from Anne Bancroft, which SHOULD have won her another Oscar! Just loved her!
