The trouble is, when you really think about it every topic or most topics in this world has roots of politics and religion even if you don't think so from the outside.Even not having a religion is a religion of sought.

I'm not sure that you could get any more wrong if you tried. But not a discussion for here.

I doubt you are right there, your accusation against me, Matter of fact from first hand experience I know your wrong. Everything I like in life or don't like is based on politics. There are 2 people in the world, the ones who are honest with themselves and does who are not. Who try to cover up there interest or hobbies in life. Just 2 examples with my life, why do I like HAMMER FILMS? because I love the moral endings, good winning over evil in the end. That philosophy is important in my own life. Many of Terence Fischer comments about good and evil I agree with when he was interview. Why is PETER CUSHING one of my favorites, same reason. Why do I think films like THE HAUNTING, CARNIVAL OF SOULS THE UNINVITED ETC ETC are some of my favorite films, Because the study of the after life is very important to me.Why GIL HODGES was a hero to me when I was younger? because he was a decent good man. Why i hated the ending of ROSEMARY'S BABY? because evil loses, goodness wins in the end, it is full of shit. Why do i get a kick of CHARLES BRONSON'S vigilante films and others of it's type, because in life vigilantism has a honorable vibe to me etc etc. Matter of fact i can't think of any interest in my life that does not have some roots of how i feel about life. Music movies , sports, any of it, Why do i love GEORGE DELERUE, JOHN BARRY and beautiful film music, because i love , love and romance, have a good night.

Matter of fact not just politics and religion, but sexual desires as well.Alot of us don't want to see ourselves the way we are. We shun the truth, because it sometimes hurts to deal with it.Everything we do in our lives has a deeper meaning then what a lot of us will ever admit to.

I agree with dan the man, so I will be silent.

If one if going to have an honest discussion about masculinity and being and being a man, then things are going to veer towards the taboo topics of spirituality, along with religion, sexuality, and politics just because one might have to talk about themes of acceptance, compassion, understanding, and dealing with life.

Are we allowed to discuss that Christmas is coming soon?

I think we can discuss that Christmas is coming soon as long as we don't start preaching that he is coming soon. big grin

We exist in a world gone mad. Everyone just loves being victimized over nothing.

Seriously fellas, put aside your preconceptions about 'self-help' books, and go read Robert Bly's 'Iron John', a delightful little tome about the many aspects and ramifications of masculinity.

This one is at my library. I'll give it a look. My library says it similar to "Wild at heart : discovering the secret of a man's soul" and other books with the ultimate taboo topic.

Come on, fella, you know the rules...

No politics

No religion

No thread without at least one mention of Jerry Goldsmith

The only problem with those rules is, around here, Jerry Goldsmith IS a religion! wink

Yes, Mr B, I was aware of the irony of rules 2 and 3 contradicting each other for some people!
