Southend wycombe 0-0 - now extra time!

1 nil wycombe. Ten mins of extra time left.
Looks grim for southend.

Ooh er. Tense stuff indeed. Southend win on sudden death penalties - 7-6.

Biggest premier league defeat and Stokes biggest win, Brendo really is a record breaker. Only Newcastle have a worse record over the last 10 games. I'm calling it, he should go.

Ooh, sounds like heartbreak for the imposter Wanderers.

Saw the last 20 minute of the Hull game on TV here. They looked decent and United were poor. Hull should have had a man sent off before Felaini showed what a scumbag he is. Needs more than a 3 match ban for that nastiness.

Liverpool, holy flip. They need a serious overhaul. Lucky if they'll hit the top 5 next season. Felt sorry for Gerrard leaving on such a double-whammy of bad matches, glad he scored, and a great run and goal, too. Liverpool seem to be in trouble all over the park. Defensively awful and soon with zero strikers. I'm surprised they did as well as they did for the long spell that saw them go up the table after a dodgy start.

Big Sam looked like he didn't give a toss in his post match interview. Talk about just running down a contract. I'm sure most Hammers will be happy to see the back of him. Not sure where he might end up. Probably wait a couple of years then dive in to try and save some relegation-threatened Prem team.

Be interesting to see where Danny Ings and Charlie Austin end up, playing well and scoring for relegated sides.

Meanwhile, it looks like Bolton are going after Rotherham's defensive captain and maybe a winger, who apparently lacks pace. Hm.

Told you all weeks ago west ham would lay down and newcastle would win and stay up.

Allardyce has quite a big and shameless ego. He will be linked with every vacant job going till he takes one.
We could do a lot worse than have kept him but the way the players have been on beach since dec is a disgrace.
Clearly stuff going on behind the scenes there.
I think hes quite a selfish and disruptive influence if he doesnt feel hes being feted by a board.

Oh well. Bilic would be my choice. But the clubs managerial selections have been woeful.

Pathetic end to a suicidal season where we even got overtaken by palace.

Yah, shame that. Bloody Palace did well with Pardew, who i'm not a fan of.

See Preston destroy Swindon in the Div 1 play-off final? Great result. I always liked PNE since i was a kid and was on the youth books when i was like 14 (so long ago). The only problem i have with the win is that Jermaine Beckford, who was woeful for us, has banged in something like 12 in 17 for them, and nails a hat-trick today. Unbelievable. I think he scored 7 in 49 or something for us, and missed tond of sitters. I'm glad Swindon lost, dating back to a grudge i have against them from some matches in about 1993, which a lot of Bolton fans hold. Also i had to go there far too many times and never liked it.

I can't be cross with Beckford, myself. He gave me my best football moment in years at Old Trafford that time. Only regret was that I couldn't celebrate as I was in the home crowd and would have been ejected by the notoriously humourless Man U stewards "out yer go, yer Yorksherrr basterrrd"

big grin

Yeah the united rugby club bruisers were renowned.

We all have dislikes - often based on memories of trips away.
I got plenty of teams i hate!

It is annoying when players let your team down and then get bigged up playing well elsewhere.

You gotta remember wanderer that pardew inherited some matchwinning players in zaha, puncheon and bolasie so they were playing well below their best when he arrived. You gotta be some plank not to get a tune out of those three.

Plenty of liverpool post mortem and speculation on sky sport.

Did you see the appalling woman at the Preston play-off stealing Jermaine Beckford's shirt off a kid who caught it when it Beckford had thrown it into the crowd? What a dirtbag.

Glad to see Norwich beat Middlesborough today. Never was a fan of Boro, and then they beat us in the 2004 League cup final, when one of their players took a penalty, slipped and hit it off his own foot, to completely change the direction of the ball, but the goal was allowed to stand.

Will be nice to see Delia "let's be 'avin' you" Smith getting muntered and going onto the pitch with a microphone at half-time again. smile

I've only had an iPhone for about 4 months, Bill. Pain in the crevice, so it is.

I got the Dredd CD with not the 52 seconds of proper Jerry Goldsmith. Typical of my season. smile

Of the two, it hurts less to see Norwich go up - even with Howson and Johnson in there with them. Stephen Fry remains football's least likely fan.

Its official - west ham in europa league! Ha ha. Cdnt make it up!

So all aboard the Thursday-sunday express. Hit the ground running for knockout stage in july and 6th in league in september.
first team players to win 3 home group games, kids n subs for Doesnt matter away games in azerbaijan.
Scrape thru group stage then bit of extra gate money and channel 5 or itv pennies. And it is pennies.

Then a squad which is totally wiped out nothing left by december and plummet down table to relegation form.
Bit like this season - but without the europa games!

Europa and Champions league are a behemoth of a joke. But good on you Bill.

"West Ham join 104 teams in the first qualifying round." What?

I have zero interest in the European cups unless there a British team in the quarters up to the final. No point following anything before that.

Bolton might get into Europa League under the newly introduced "quietest ground" as it shows we have consideration for others.

Wigan might get in for having the "hottest WAG" for Pennant's missus. I can see these things becoming reality.

You're already fitting in nicely with the above sentiment, Ob. Leaving just Bill and me as "caring" about non-English-based teams (as opposed to English teams composed of actual English players). I'm sure you won't mind or even pay attention to the occasional random La Liga, Serie A, or Bundesliga reference around here. wink

Speaking of the CL, I am not looking forward to the final at all this year, as it's essentially a Barcelona coronation ceremony. Maybe we all should discuss WWII adventure films and toy and model kits during the summer break. cool

Lots of FIFA bigwigs arrested by America (well, by the Swiss on their behalf). We all knew they were a bunch of crooks, but it took the Yanks to do something about it. It's early days, but it's going to be a big story, I'm sure lots more to come. I don't know how it will affect Russia & Qatar.
