With England kicking off (ahem) their Test tour in New Zealand tonight, it's time to get going in this thread again. So what's been going on in the last couple of months since England were hammered 4-0 down under? England hammered Australia 1-4 in the ODI series in their own backyard. But they were well beaten in the bilateral 20/20 series with Australia and New Zealand. England then played a competitive ODI series in New Zealand which they won 2-3. Our 50 over team is really hitting form in 2018. Elsewhere, South Africa won a closely fought contest with India in Tests 2-1. India don't usually travel well, but in this series their bowling was very competitive in foreign conditions - a warning for England when India arrive on our shores this summer. Their batsmen struggled on fast, bouncy pitches, which was ultimately the difference. South Africa are currently in the middle of a cracking series against Australia. Plenty of words exchanged on the pitch, with incidents involving Warner and Rabada. The latter is on fire, and has just escaped a two-test ban for on-field behaviour in the Second Test, which was won by him and AB De Villiers who returned to form with a cracking century. The score is 1-1 with two Tests to play. And finally, Ben Stokes is in the frame to return to play the First Test at Eden Park tonight. Whether he is fit enough to bowl isn't known yet, but if he is, England's 11 will likely be Cook, Stoneman, Vince, Root, Malan, Stokes, Bairstow, Ali, Overton/Woakes, Broad, Anderson. England are keeping faith with Stoneman and Vince despite low scores in the Ashes. If Stokes is fit enough to bowl, he'll take his place in a five man attack that includes the misfiring Stuart Broad. Woakes may share the new ball with Jimmy Anderson.

Stumps on Day One of the First Test at Eden Park, New Zealand, between England and the hosts. And what a morning... for NZ. England lost the toss and were put in to bat, only to slump to a horrific, diabolical 23/9. Yes, 23/9. Overton came in and scored 33 before England were bowled out for 58, one of their all time classic collapses. In 20 overs. NZ only used two bowlers in the entire innings, with Trent Boult claiming 6/32 and Tim Southee 4/25. They bowled well, but the shot selection by England was reportedly calamitous, and included five ducks. NZ finished Day One on 175/3 with Kane Williamson nearing a century. This Test is over.

23/9? That's astonishingly bad. Can't recall a score as bad as that before.
