Read first, then listen. Or listen while you read. Best of both worlds.

PROG ROCK 4-EVER!

REALLY digging the new album "In Becoming a Ghost" by The Faceless. Groovy, spooky, technical prog/death metal with alternately clean and harsh/growling vocals. So many ideas packed into these roller coaster soundstorms. Random surprise: this crazysauce cover of Depeche Mode's "Shake the Disease" (!).

Or listen while you read.

NEVER.

Either music only or reading only.

Lucky for you. Due to my tinnitus, I can never again listen to music all by itself, or read fiction intently without some sort of sound/music.

But even before that, I always listened to music while reading fiction. Which is what caused all those weird 'associations' we talked about in the other thread.

Wow, did you come into some money, a rich aunty died or something. I bought the two-disc version, listened to it...& that's the last time I went near it.

Nice album. I remember playing it a lot around the time it was released.

Yes. I've always liked it, but it's become one of my JMJ favourites in recent years.

Perhaps. It's certainly not up there with PET SOUNDS and the like. But it's a brilliant and inventive album nonetheless. The amount of experimentation and 'dissonance' on display here is unprecedented in Wilson's discography.
