well....finally got back home and listened to all 3 CDs. Tears welling up during "Architects Of Fear" cues....this release is a monumental achievement (for me anyway) and hats off to MV, Matt,Ford, and the rest of the production crew for making one of my dreams reality. The ZZZZ cues showed up in INVADERS pilot (during Ellen Corby's appearance in Vincent's apartment fire)...BORDERLAND cue was used in season 4 of THE FUGITIVE a few times. I love that theme in HUMAN FACTOR that later was used in A FEASIBILTY STUDY finale as all those folks held hands...WOW! Ford, from one Thaxton to another...it must be in our gene pool!!!

I was just going to post that i wish that cue was included in this new set having mistakenly remembered it was a Lubin original. On with the show (discs two & three)! brm

There are some missing cues from "The Architects Of Fear" that I noticed. Some cues during the operating room scenes, where Allen almost dies, the final cue just before the cut to the recovery room scene with Allen behind the sectioner, and the final cue of Act Three, over the hearse driving downtown. I'm wondering if this set was released in response to the absolutely wretched sound quality of the current Outer Limits DVD sets, and if so, a good decision. The previous VHS and laserdisc releases had varying picture quality, mostly good, but some were pretty bad IMO, but at least the sound quality was very good for the most part. Now it's time for MGM/UA to wake up and smell the coffee, and give this series a definitive DVD release, with new prints from the original camera negatives and bonus material galore. They probably don't think it would sell enough to justify the expense, but how about a Best Buy limited release trial balloon?

I watched an episode of this on a playstation big screen setup and these need remastering BAD. Compare them to a TZ ep - the difference is astonishing

No one knows if all of the music from the GNP CD made it to the 3-CD set? The track titles and indexing are different. According to the record producer, Frontiere had access to the publishing and rewrote the track titles so you won't find any connections with the old GNP CD. LLL didn't include the sound effects library from the GNP CD.

No one knows if all of the music from the GNP CD made it to the 3-CD set? The track titles and indexing are different. We used everything that appeared on the GNP ALBUM, I think there might have been a cue or two that were taken from the MUSIC & EFFECTS tapes that we didn't include. However, it's a 3 CD SET, so it has vastly more music then the GNP release. Ford A. Thaxton

Last night I watched the episode "The Sixth Finger." This is not on the 3-CD set, at least under that title. Still, I think I recognized some of the music. I'm assuming this show, like many others, sometimes tracked music from episodes with original scores. "The Sixth Finger" is composed of stock music from both "Stoney Burke" and "The Outer Limits".

There are many days that I can't get that tympani march/oscillator bit from NIGHTMARE/THE MICE out of my head

The cues I suspect you are thinking of include sounds effects such as Martin Sheen screaming and the sounds of the earth ship crashing as well. Ford A. Thaxton OK. I understand why you'd think that, but I've just re-checked, and the GNP CD cues I'm talking about are: 1. Track 18 "Betty Loop" - about 2 and a half minutes in. The first few bars DO indeed feature on the new album as the menacing bass ostinato, but then it stops suddenly. However, on the GNP album the ostinato continues and a rhythmical bell tree is added along with the e-violin/flute mysterioso. 2. Track 20 "Prepare The Chamber #2". The first 30 seconds are missing from the new album. 3. Track 20 again, about 1m 40s in. "Told The Truth". This is a short musical suspension with trilling e-violin over vibe and harp up/down glisses. The thing resolves in a cool sounding broken chord in fourths. I don't know, maybe it's all there and I'm going nuts! Correct me if I'm wrong (I know you will). Those appear to be the cues pulled from the MUSIC AND EFFECTS reels, which means they were edited to conform to picture so some edits and vamps are not surprising. Also as I said earlier this after Dom scored the thing, there were other elements laid on top of this score by the music editor and sound effects folks as well. The new CD presents his score as he wrote and recorded it. Ford A. Thaxton While the question about the missing bits above was not resolved since Heath replied that these cues dont have FX in the video, I'm curious about the so-called MUSIC AND EFFECTS reels Ford mentioned. Are these tracks on the films themselves? Or are there music-only stems on the films?
