I think that his score for Hacksaw Ridge was MUCH better BUT I like Wonder Woman also. There's some good music on this album too.

Last week I finally got around this film and enjoyed it a lot! Up until the final act Wonder Woman is a very good film. Surprisingly vibrant and hopeful. In the last act it got kinda stupid. That final bad guy comes out of nowhere and his actions do not make sense. If he had stayed hidden and had not revealed himself to Diana, he would have been successful! That we never get to see his face after his transformation didn't help either.
Anyhow, the score. I kinda enjoyed it. It worked in the movie -- heroics, drama, sadness -- they're all in the right places and it even has a theme. It was good, just not special.
Apart from the daft, thoroughly nonsensical villain the score might be the worst part of the film. But that's just another way of saying how well the acting, costume design, sets and story build up really was.
The one thing that got me out of the movie was Zimmer's Owner Woman theme. It pops up twice and, to me, is a big stylistic deviation of the rest of the score. Where RGW uses more traditional orchestra, out of the blue does this electronic cello. It doesn't blend with the rest of the score, but doesn't match the character Wonder Woman too. It's far to aggressive for this hopeful, soft spoken though tough and somewhat naive character.
It's my understanding that after the mess that was Batman vs. Superman DC/Warner veers their movies subtle to a brighter direction, but that Wonder Woman theme was a reminiscence I could have done without.

I have to disagree. Without Zimmer's theme, the score would be even more unremarkable, on screen and off screen. It is because the theme is derived from an electric cello that brought personality to that score. I think it works to an extent representing the warrior side of Diana. But yes, even Zimmer has moved on to creating a brand new theme for her character.
