Thoroughly enjoyed the Robin Hood episode. The character of this Doctor is fleshed out a little more in a fun way and there are continued hints towards the over-arching storyline. As a huge Matt Smith fan who was disappointed to see him go I am finding myself enjoying Peter Capaldi more with each episode (although I do miss the Doctor theme for the Matt Smith version of the Doctor - My favourite by far)

I actually turned off half way through Robot of Sherwood as I found it just unwatchable. Don't even like Capaldi now.

I won't be bothering with the rest of the series and probably won't return to the show until Moffat moves on.

The BBC will remove a beheading scene from Saturday’s broadcast of Robot of Sherwood

Shame they didn't cut the other 53 minutes and 57 seconds

I enjoyed Robots of Sherwood a lot more than I actually thought I would....a couple of moments that I though unnecessarily dopey, but forgiveable when it is such a fun romp.

Capaldi is fast becoming a favourite of mine.

The new Doctor is starting to come into his own. Best episode thus far though a bit dopey at times. Forgivable since it was a light romp. Uniformly good CGI this time around. Good direction and camera work. Still not ecstatic with this series, but is progressing.

It's not just this actor. I've had this issue for the last 7 years. I only understand about 50 percent of what is spoken because of the accents.

BTW, what is the general consensus regarding the new Doctor in the UK?

Generally speaking the older fans love him. We've been hoping for a return to a more mature, less giddy lead actor for some time. Eccleston was less of a 'boy', but the producers were still wanting plenty of humour within the lead performance. It was as if they thought they had to distill both sides of the character as portrayed seperately by the many different actors during the Classic years, into one dual style performance. There could never be a totally 'staright' performance. Now we're back to the kind of thing Jon Pertwee did. There was humour and whimsy within Pertwee's performance, but no clowning.

With the scripts full of humour, and plenty of scope for guest artists (see Robot of Sherwood!), and companions to have their moments, The Doctor himself can anchor the show in a way neither David Tennant or Matt Smith, good as they were, could never do.

Because of it's basic concept Doctor Who is of course the least serious of sf/fantasy shows, so it's good when balance is restored in this way. An actor of the calibre of Peter Capaldi provides that.

@ paulhickling- Thxs for the reply. I liked the previous Doctors but I'm glad they decided to shake things up and go with a more mature actor this time.

Anyone think Journey Blue would make a good companion? In a way, she reminded me of Sara Kingdom.

I'd kind of like see to Jenny again, personally.

I liked yesterday's episode, 'Listen'. It again felt more measured and less manic, more thoughtful and less scatterbrained. With one or two moments excepted, I think this series is seeing the 'rebirth' of Doctor Who for me smile

Well a small number of fans can suck it up. I can't read Japanese - should Haruki Murakami learn to write in English just so I can understand it? Of course not - I read it in translation. And anyone who can't follow Capaldi's MILD Scottish accent can use the subtitles.

Hmph!

Best episode thus far! The Doctor continues to develop along with his chemistry with Clara. There's some wonderful witty humor too.

I can certainly see why a scene like that would be removed from a family show. It's not censorship as much as simply good taste and common sense.

That's what censors always say, and I always find censorship offensive. I think I'll go and watch Gawain and the Green Knight.

I don't see it as censorship even.
