To be honest, I think this release ill-serves the score. Mixing the jokey source cues in with the relentless, pounding score makes no musical sense, and what was on the earlier releases of the score a compelling journey into Robo's world becomes a disjointed jumble of a listen. This is a prime example of film chronology not working on album.

I have made my own playlist with score only. No big deal for me.

While I mostly like to have source cues separate from the main score, in the case of RoboCop I do believe that the short commercial jingles are appropriate to be presented along with the score. They sort of comment on the action (especially the 6000SUX cue at the end of "Force Shoots Robo") and fit quite nicely with the score in my opinion. The terrible elevator music of "Big Is Better" does however not fit in, standing completely apart in musical style and forming a bizarre interlude on the album.

While I agree that the source music could have been better served by placing it at the end of the release, as far as the score is concerned, I find the expanded chronological presentation much superior to the original album, particularly the finale; the Varèse album always seemed to trail off to me.

Sure, except the source cues are not always on separate tracks from the score cues.

I'm not lambasting Intrada for the choices they made. Choices must be made. It's just not my preferred way of listening to this particular score.

I was one who missed out on this release, so if LaLaLand DOES re-release it in the future (hopefully with the source music at the end, and maybe Jim Titus packaging?) I will buy it!

Yes, now you're committed to buying five copies of the eventual re-release.

Well if it REALLY bothers you, there's always Audacity.

Sure, it is not an insurmountable problem. My point was not that Intrada had committed a crime, or destroyed the score, or ruined my day. It was only that (and these were my words) that the score was ill-served by this presentation, and that I preferred other presentations.

I'd love for a second chance at this. I held off on getting this and I regret it.

And to add, I never understood anyone who would get mad about an out of print title being re-released. I've seen people protest stuff like this in other threads and quite frankly, I think everyone deserves a chance at a score.
