Sad news about Armfield. I always enjoyed his radio commentary, he came over as knowledgeable and not one for OTT soundbites. Apparently it was his call that led to Terry Venables getting the England job after Taylor, which turned out a good decision.

On the radio he had a fairly endearing habit of saying "what I like to call.......", so it could be something like "Arsenal are playing in what I like to call a diamond formation" and I'd think, oh Jimmy, the rest of us have been calling it that for years!

Yup, he was excellent, & we now have...Robbie Savage frown

What i Like to call ...is garth crooks cAtchphrase!
I liked jimmy. Sad hes gone. Interesting what he said about england 66 squad and what was the secret. Its what bobby charlton said - They were mature young men,.no egos, no joking about, all focussed on the job.

He must have got it from the master. And I never watch Garth Crooks (or Joey Barton, or Dwight Yorke) if I can help it.

Heh - Swansea are so out of practice celebrating a goal that their captain has broken his nose in the joyful aftermath of one-nil!

Wow, Liverpool who last week beat top of the table Man City to halt their record breaking run, now lose to bottom of the table Swansea! Now that's why the Premier League is the best in the world, anything can happen.

Never looked like scoring for the most part. Nothing shocks me with Liverpool, we've seen that type of performance a thousand and one times before and we'll see it again.

Yeah, I was listening to the last ten minutes on the radio & I kept hearing things like, what a great chance, & that's their best chance yet! It sounds like Liverpool has got a touch of the Arsenals.

Mkatariyan said "i dont play in one position. I like to play all over the pitch"
"thats ok" said Arsene "ive got 15 others who cant hold their position either"

No mention of good question to Sanchez, nobody asked him about the weather in Chile and no one asked how many of the Dirty Dozen were left alive at the end!

Which incidentally none of you have tried to answer either. Hopeless. It was an X when TG was a kid, kevs probly never seen it coz it isnt a silly kids space film, thomas too young and xebec watches so many films hes probably forgot. wink

I've seen it, but I prefer ESCAPE TO VICTORY!
I also don't like the way DeVol rips of JAWS in it, years before Williams wrote it!

Either that or it's that time of the year when Liverpool begin their annual downward table slide.

How many months left in the season? Four? Ugh.

Only a week to go. Now weve lost arnautovic, lanzini and Carroll.( Agn) for a month, we need to sign someone up front.
sahko not getting as much as what the new strikers are paid and it shows in his effort last 2 seasons. (remembr how adebayor would turn off? This is similar). We hav ayew - who puts in a lot of effort - but neithr are much good and both are available to offers.
most of the time i shudder with dread when i see most of the names we get linked with.
