I don't believe I've ever used this word in relation to ANYTHING before - but La La Land's '55 Days at Peking' expanded edition is absolutely THRILLING! My God what an unsung Tiomkin gem. I've always known it - but here's the proof.

This is one of those I had written off as a never-happen, and then suddenly there it was, from La La Land. Like FSM's MUTINY ON THE BOUNTY, this is an unbelievable release, a cherished score from my early days of "soundtrack fever." LLL is awesome -- can't thank them enough for this one!

You and I must have received our copies in the mail at the same time, Bob. I listened to the whole score last night and was mesmerized by it. Frank DeWald's liner notes are magnificent. Well done, LLL!

Here's the original recording on which Tiomkin based his "Children's Corner" (Disc 2, track 2):

And here's the "Dance at the British Embassy (The Belfry Two-Step)" aka "Mosquito Parade" (Disc 1, track 12):

After reading the liner notes today for Uncharted 3, I can confidently state that Daniel Schweiger needs a better editor.

Thanks for sharing this material, George. Quite charming.

Fans of 55 Days at Peking (and the other Bronston epics) might be interested in an interview with producer Bernard Gordon that appears on Severin's new Horror Express Blu-ray. He discusses various films, and recounts his experiences with the HUAC blacklist.

The disc also features an interview with the composer on Horror Express, John Cacavas.

Oh what a pleasant surprise! I just received my order of UNCHARTED 3 score from LLL with autographed booklet from Greg Edmonson! 4 months after after the release and still there are autographed copies available? Weird smile

I had a similar scenario happen to me when I ordered Mirrors 2 (Frederik Wiedmann) a little while ago and I got an autographed booklet with it. Both must be dismal sellers.

Not at all.

We always keep 5 to 10 signed booklets set aside for "lost" orders. Once several months pass, and no one complains they have not received thier signed booklet, we just toss them inside newer orders instead of throwing them away.

As for Uncharted 3, we only have 350 units left of the 3000 run. It was very successful for a video game score

That makes much more sense. I certainly wasn't hoping either title was a poor seller; thank you for the correction.
