"Batman and Robin" (at that price because of Goldenthal reuse of themes)

Haha, that sounds so dumb!

By that logic, many expaded Horner scores would be in the bargain bin!

Chris.

Also, I'm just curious, I'm not complaining: what do folks think of 8CD set priced at $119.98, considering the very wonderful Medal Of Honor 8CD set was only $59.98?

Oh, ignorant smuli! No two projects cost the same to produce. Sure, the actual manufacturing of the discs themselves may be standard, but that's not (most of) what we're paying for. The differences in cost are myriad, but can include what musicians recorded the score (union or non-, US or elsewhere, etc.), how much (if any) of this music has been released before, whether the rights are owned by one entity or several, and at its most basic, how much money the rights-owners are willing to sell it to LLL for.

I don't think this will come now, but there was also talk of an upcoming Morris/Brooks box from LaLaLand. Is this still possible?

"A planned Morris/Brooks box set is in the works, but there might be some elements issues that need to be dealt with first before it comes out.

MV"

Where did MV say that? I'd be very tempted by that, except for already having the LLL Blazzing Saddles and Spaceballs.

Quite some time ago, so who knows when the project will wrap - or if it's still in the works.

More recently although not too recently, LLL also advised somebody to hold off on purchasing a Brooks/Morris compilation disc

http://filmscoremonthly.com/board/posts.cfm?threadID=89197&forumID=1&archive=0

A Brooks/Morris box is the first of the "guesses" for the Black Friday box that tickles my fancy, so I hope that's it. I also missed Spaceballs and haven't been able to justify the secondhand costs, so it would be nice to get a second shot at that.

The other suggestions (yours and other people's) for the 8-Disc sets are ones I could live without...however, a Superman TAS set would be an instant overdraft-maker.

I couldn't see the 8-Disc being Superman TAS mainly because Batman TAS was one CD per volume. Why would Superman suddenly get such a larger disc set when Batman TAS' music is more well known?

MV did reveal Superman TAS was coming and would be 4CDs. Now, things could have changed and perhaps they expanded it further? Superman TAS didn't have as much music as Batman TAS (54 episodes vs 85 episodes), so perhaps 8CDs could complete Superman TAS? I'm looking forward to Superman TAS.

I would be both shocked and not shocked if the 8CD set was Tales from the Crypt. Shocked because I didn't think there was such demand or that much great music. Not shocked because it does have some big name composers attached to it.

Could the 8CD be a luxury repackaging of all the Batman Animated Series discs, with the latest two CDs added to the previous 6 and housed in a fancy outer box with book?
But thinking about it, that's probably only a little more likely than my preferred alternative of an 8CD set of Randolph Scott Western Scores (Webb, Sawtell, Roemheld etc).

Probably a TV series, but that's not a bad guess, La-La were supposed to be releasing John Morris this year. This lot would be worth 3000 copies.

The Twelve Chairs
Young Frankenstein
The Adventures Of Sherlock Holmes Smarter Brother
Space Balls
To Be Or Not To Be
History Of The World Part 1
The Worlds Greatest Lover
High Anxiety

& I'm sure he's done a lot more Fox films

I've heard Police Academy will be a 5 CD set according to various rumblings on the interwebz. Then I remember there were 7 films what IF that was the 8 cd set with the eighth disc being outtakes/unused cues.

It will be a single disc.

This is heartening. Much as I love Robert Folk, dropping 120 beans on the POLICE ACADEMY series strikes me as...nuts.

I'd do it. smile

I just hope it's successful enough to get the sequel scores one day in the future.

As for the boxset, M.V. stated on Facebook: "...searching high and low for every scrap of music we could find and going through endless amounts of clearances..."

The endless amount of clearances... one could assume that this set involves either multiple studios and/or record labels.

Tora! Tora! Tora! was limited to 2000 units so there's always the possibly that the 2000-quantity title is a reissue of a previously-released limited edition.

(Yeah, one has nothing to do with the other... just speculation!)

I reckon we can cross one off the guessing list.
Goldsmith fans waiting for a remastered "Take a Hard Ride" should be happy soon.

Yea, again, for this price tag, I think it's going to be something huge. And as I keep saying, what else can be more huge than Lethal Weapon that fits this category? Looking at it objectively.

Now, of course, as a Lethal Weapon fanboy, I want it to be that more than anything else.

Though, with all the repetitive cues throughout the LW movies, I'm not sure how it could be that for 8 discs, unless LLL isn't concerned about that.

Yeah, a film series like that (or bigger) is the only thing I'd consider for $120... but for LW I'd probably hold out for a possible release of the first (similar to Friday the 13th)...or an eventual sale over the next few years. Heck I'm still waiting for the complete bluray set to go back on sale, lol...and that's only like $40.

Vol. 1 - two discs. Vol. 2 - 4 discs. Point made, however.

This makes a lot of sense given LLL's history of re-releasing Goldsmith Westerns. I'd believe it as either the 2,000 or 3,000 unit single CD release. Do you have an inside scoop though, or is it just speculation? Good guess at any rate.

It certainly looks like the monkey in the photo is having a hard ride (and yet, MV doesn't give clues...)

Chris.

I have it on good authority that the box set is every soundtrack released by La-La Land up until this point, but with the audio sped up enough to fit all the content on 8 discs.

Robert Folk's Police Academy is another release, but the audio plays in reverse. The first 100 copies get Folk's autograph signed backwards.

Another release is The Matrix Revolutions, but it's missing a precious 1 second stinger, which will surely anger the kind of people interested in an expansion of this soundtrack.

How about 8 CDs for Warner's Animation in the 90's:

Animaniacs
Pinky & the Brain
Superman:TAS
Tiny Toons
Freakazoid
(And a few more)

Though I'd easily spring for 2-4 CDs for each series
