I haven't been enamored with all that many Conti scores, but I heard one recently that really impressed me - A Prayer for the Dying (1987), a film so obscure probably none of you know about it - but it's stunning. I also have a question for any Conti experts here: Where is there any original compositions by him in The Right Stuff? I'm not being facetious, but I hear plenty of Tchaikovsky, Holst, Mancini, air force melodies, etc., but I can't find any actual Conti in the finished film? Is all of his stuff on the album only?

Masters Of The Universe, Rocky, Karate Kid and Adventures Of Huck Finn.

I know this score gets a lot of flak for its classical borrowings, but the main theme is absolutely gorgeous.

I think Bill Conti's music for the ROCKY movies is iconic and perhaps also my favorite of his work. It just fits the character and movies so well, from the soft piano cues all the way up to the Rocky fanfare, the music is a big part of who "Rocky" is. Whenever I see a Rocky poster, I have Bill Conti's music in my head.

To expand a little on my earlier 2009 post: I just realized that Conti is really an indelible part of my childhood. THE KARATE KID is one of the films to which I have the strongest nostalgic connection. I remember when I first saw it; one of my earliest cinema-going memories. The TV series NORTH & SOUTH, DYNASTY and FALCON CREST were huge in Norway. Back then, in the 80s, we only had one TV channel, and you watched whatever was on. I had a regular ritual on school day evenings (Wednesdays, I think), before bedtime, where I watched an episode of all these series with my mom. A quest for the NORTH & SOUTH/THE RIGHT STUFF soundtrack was the first-ever post I made on FSM in 1998. DYNASTY, I even made a super academic thread about in the early 2000s, a 20-something kid trying to show off his new knowledge, LOL: https://www.filmscoremonthly.com/board/posts.cfm?threadID=1595&forumID=1&archive=1 Then, of course, came the VHS days in the late 80s, where I was exposed to the ROCKY films, LOCK UP, ESCAPE TO VICTORY, F/X and that kind of stuff. However, while BLOOD IN BLOOD OUT still is a top 3 Conti for me, I think it has since been surpassed by his THE BIG BLUE replacement score as my alltime favourite. I love Serra's version too, but both are interesting for different reasons (Serra's more acidic take vs. Conti's more streamlined New Age take).

I think it would be Rocky. I have a sentimental attachment to that score. But most of the Conti in my collection are well loved.
