202) BillCarson in that "Bruce Marshall top 30" thread:

"Can you change the heading to Bruce tells himself about his latest list."

Oldsmith's was funny, but Carson's delivery of a joke is second to none; it has a "semi-subtle", "borderline" quality that I find semi-refreshing, or borderline refreshing.

Oh, and my attorney advises me to add the following: wink

I should mention that our esteemed Deputy Riley also contributed positively to that Rambo topic.

203) Thor, attempting to sound like a seasoned critic, but instead sounding like Zack Snyder's publicist:

"Google 'Snyder' and 'auteur', you'll see that many have found pleasure in analyzing his trademarks in recent years. And I agree -- love him or hate him, he's one of the most iconic and most recognizable directors of his generation, using the full mayhem of contemporary Hollywood FX towards his unique vision."

"assembly line pastiche garbage happy meal film scoring"

Extra credit for making me crave McDonald's, which I eat maybe once a year.

The only reason I even looked at that thread is to see why posts were proliferating on it, and sure enough it was an amusing hatefest of maestro Junkie XL.

Not 10 minutes old, but boy does it belong here:

You’ve got your demands (Marcato, it's cold in here)
They’re out of our hands (Marcato, you’re trolled in here)
This thread has been, well (I’m so glad that you dropped in)
Somewhat insane (I’ll shake your hand, and pick your brain)
And Schiffy will start to worry (cross fades can be quite blurry)
You’ve managed to annoy Lehah (for that I’ll meet you at the bar)
Marcato, to me you’re a star, but matey it’s cold in here.

We all want more Bond (‘cos baby there’s gold inside)
We’d fish in that pond (I’m pretty sure Lukas tried)
I’m sure we’d all buy, it would be grand.
We’re all in our basements and starvin’
For John or Bill, heck even Marvin
It’s the very least we’re desarvin’ smile
And matey there’s gold inside

I really must go (although it’s so cold outside)
But one thing I must know (so it’s Denmark that you reside)
I bet it’s cold there, this time of year.
So tell me please, Doctor Marcato, does it rhyme with potato or potato? (Oh really, so it’s just like “tomato”)
Well kiddo, you’re bold in here.

-Tall Guy in the blisteringly chilly "For the upcoming Bonds"

Thanks, TU, appreciated.

I quite like the comment in the Peter Proud thread: "(Goldsmith) knows, better than anyone else, how to use the absence of music." Not for the certainty or sincerity or even the profundity of the opinion, which is quite touching, but for the multitude of responses that flooded my synapses...

"I also welcome silence in a Goldsmith-scored film"
"So now his silence is better than anyone else's silence"
"John Cage should have scored more films (other than The Birds and The China Syndrome, of course)"
"Is the silence somehow enhanced by comparison with the music?"
"Say hello to Dan at the lodge meeting tonight"

All in good fun, of course...otherwise I'd have posted this there.

207) Kim Peterson in "Ignore list....Help needed":

Another interesting thread. I met my fiancee at a university function and I was not wearing a FSM t-shirt or had an Ipod completely full of film scores blasting in my ears. It took several dates for me to even mention that I like film scores. He asked what exactly was a "film score" and I explained and he said, "So you like classical music." I am offended that the OP would say "Hot" women. That is in the eye of the beholder and I think of myself as average. I have actually met some guys who did like film scores or at least they said they did and they did not work out.

Here are some keys if you want to even think about getting a chance with a woman:

-Abandon your search for the "hot" woman, you are obviously setting your standards too high when you are posting this on a film score message board.

-Let her talk, yes you need to have a conversation, but do not control the conversation. DO NOT start out talking about film scores.

-When on a date, do not answer your phone or play on your Ipod (this happened to me) and be posting on any message boards. It is not worth trying to compete for attention.

-Sorry to say this, but move out of your parents house. I dated a 32 year old man for awhile and he always picked me up at my apartment and I never saw his apartment. He did not want to tell me he lived in his parents basement. Yes, currently I live with my father, but I am his health care provider. When we lost mother, my father could not take care of himself with his failing health and he can not afford a nursing home or other care facility. My fiancee understands this and has help to decide to push our wedding to later this year, so that I can take care of my father immediate needs.

-Take the "I am a film score geek" bumper sticker off your car. I love scores, but I would never put that on my car. If I did, my fiancee would ask to take it in fear that I might pick up some other guy. Yeah, right, ha, ha.

-Take us out to eat to an average restaurant. Do not take us to McDonald's and say, sorry this is all I could afford because I just bought the box set of LETHAL WEAPON. "Hey, do you like film scores?" Do not take us to an expensive restaurant and pay with your parents credit card (this also happened to me).

I love film scores and my fiancee loves classic rock. I listen to his music and he listens to mine. The right person is out there for everyone, just do not limit yourself to just "hot" women because chances are they are not looking for the type of guys like you.
