Samples sounding very beautiful - prime Doyle!

maybe we differ on what's "romantic"

trailers looks like the eleventh silly awfully-coloured family/mainstream movie about fairy tales or or superheroes or whatever Disney/Hollywood makes these days... mostly

This film seems more like "Cinderella Extreme Make-Over". I think "Slipper and the Rose" was far more charming. (I realize I'm basing this only on a trailer!)

Oh, and for the rest of us guys there's always Cinderella (77) wink

I was curious so I looked up the films based on the story of Cinderella.

While it's not on the list you linked, the Rodgers and Hammerstein version has had three television versions from 1957, 1965 (my personal favorite of the three), and 1997.

Good catch. Such are the dangers of relying on Wiki.
BTW, the samples provided sound awesome. Can't wait to hear the entire soundtrack.

So excited about this CD!

However, far less excited to read this irritating news in the press release:

http://www.filmscoremonthly.com/board/posts.cfm?threadID=108611&forumID=1&archive=0

"The digital soundtrack includes 3 bonus instrumental tracks (“Strong,” “A Dream is a Wish,” “Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo”)."

This sucks. So tired of bonus content that CD buyers don't get. I'm presuming these are Doyle-conducted orchestral recordings of the three songs at the end.

Since two of the songs are not composed by Doyle, who cares?
It would be nice to get the instrumental version of the only song doyle actually composed for the movie, but it's no biggie.

The CD's 80 minutes long so good luck sticking bonus tracks on it.

If they can't fit on the CD they should be offered as extra downloads for CD purchasers.

Agreed. At least one appears to be composed by Doyle, and the other two are presumably orchestrated and/or conducted by him...

they will be hardly conducted by him since he rarely conducts and he has James Shearman for that.

I preordered this album through amazon, which is offering a free AutoRip of the mp3 album with purchase of the cd, so the mp3 album included with this purchase should have the bonus tracks. I can post what is included once the album is loaded into my library.

I love all of you men here dearly. However, I will side with joan and say I think the trailer looks lovely and very appealing. Lily James is a stunning young actress and her appearance in it is what drew me to this film. To hear that the score is outstanding makes it even more exciting as I wait for the release. This is a timeless story and therefore a newer version for each generation should be welcomed. I have the music from every television and cinematic release of this story (at least I believe I do) and I love them all. I am grateful that someone has decided that this story is worthy of a new release and giddy that Patrick Doyle scored it.

I have a date to go see this movie with my son's girlfriend, who was raised in the generation of the marketing of the Disney princess. She still loves the whole concept, even as a young 20 something. Who better to see this film with than someone who thinks your son is a prince?

C'mon guys, this is Cinderella we are anticipating, not Grumpy Old Men. smile

I totally forgot they do that, thanks for reminding me! I already have the CD preordered from Amazon as well.
