Since this is a old thread I am surely not derailing anything from one's interest in the question that was asked almost ten years ago I can't really give a true answer to that question. I think to an extent anyone who loves anything that much could be in some ways be describe as a sought of a nerd, if being a nerd means someone denies a part of the so called outside world for their deep interest in something. I can't say either is that a compliment or a insult. Interests and hobbies to a certain extent can be healthy along with the needs and concerns of our daily lives. Too much of either side might not be so wise. But who is to say how much is enough or is not enough. I think like many words and stereotypes many people misunderstand what the word nerd really means. However may I ask this question what would you call a person who denies themselves much enjoyment in things because they are so hung up on doing things not what they might really enjoy but what they think is popular to enjoy. In short a fear of liking something that might not be that popular, only spiting themselves at the same time? A fool perhaps?-LEO BUSGULIA[SPELLING] often used a wise quote that went something like It is better to be number one of yourself then number two of somebody else.

Someone upthread said something about no one being better than anyone else. Not sure what that means with regards to nerds. Yeah, we are nerds, so what? If someone says nerds are inferior, I guess that statement kicks in to say, nope. I also know that humanity is endlessly obsessed with categorizing us all, and putting us into layers, ethnically, religiously, in terms of age, wealth and everything else. This data box driven model of humanity is really boring and pointless. Gee, that might sound nerdy.
