Yeah, I'm aware I'm in the minority in most of the online forums I frequent on this particular issue. But thankfully -- among my own film critic colleagues -- both films are very well appreciated.

In either case -- regardless of what you think of the two movies -- I think one would agree that a Disney-fication of the ALIEN universe it not good for anyone.

Disney won't even care about making ALIEN. Not enough dollars there to interest them, especially after COVENANT's performance. $240 mil worldwide won't be nearly enough to compel them to keep a franchise going.

Man...

Guess we'll never hear Alfred Newman's fanfare music in a theatre ever again!

Is this the end of Fox film scores on CD?

I actually don't agree, because I'm not sure what "Disney-fication" is in 2018. They are savvy business people who make films under various banners for various audiences. Did they Disneyfi Paul Verhoven for "Starship Troopers"? Wes Anderson? The Coen brothers? Was "The Sixth Sense" Disneyfied?

That said, I can't imagine any good could come from squeezing the Alien universe any drier. But we just disagree about that, Thor.

And that said, I think this merger is terrible.

Its a weird one - fox is news int's mega jewel in crown.
They dont do anything unless its a deliberate strategic plan that suits their needs.
Perhaps they think movies are nose-diving and they will cash in.

I'm sure the 20th Century Fox film logo will remain under the Disney umbrella.

That may end up being confusing for quite a while...

MOST: Wait, I though Fox was no more? It was an ex-studio? It had ceased to be?

FEW: Er mer gerd, stop going outside and read an internet, already!

I can only surmise that, should the need arise, now that Disney owns A L I E N S, they no longer need The Brood for an X-Men crossover.

Which means that Guardians of the Galaxy could fight a Predator. The Age of Fanfiction will be upon us.

Does this mean that Disney will finally release some of 20th Century-Fox Television's classic television series (e.g.. "The Life And Loves Of Dobie Gillis", "12 O'Clock High" and "The Felony Squad") on D.V.D. under the Disney Archives Series, establish a separate D.V.D.-R. division (which means discontinuing the Fox Archives Series), or say "Forget it?"

    A new twist??

Comcast is reportedly preparing to offer an all-cash bid for 21st Century Fox, which would likely disrupt the in the works Disney-Fox deal.

While I'm not thrilled about Comcast getting it, for me it's better than Disney.

And what are the benefits of getting "all cash" versus just transferring money electronically here? I honestly don't know.

And poor CinemaSins, always sinning the name Comcast in sin videos -- if this happens, more sins coming their way. ;-)

I'm confused on why it's called 21st Century Fox and before Disney was buying 20th Century Fox. Can someone smarter than I help me understand this better?

21st Century Fox is the name of the Murdoch's corporation. 20th Century Fox is the name of the film and tv production company that they are (or at least were) selling to Disney.

In the first linked post, they were calling it 21st Century Fox as well.

21st Century Fox is the big corporation. 20th Century Fox (the film subsidiary) did not update its name.

As far as I know, 30th Century Fox has only released Futurama.

Comcast has reportedly just made a $65 billion all-cash offer for 21st Century Fox in an attempt to nab the company and its assets from Disney.

    I don't don't think so.
    Brm

Fyi "Cash" means an outright purchase bypassing bank loans or stock transfers etc.
    Right?
