Well, just sampled the "U.S.S. Calister" episode score.

What a big disappointment. Random orchestral bits that don't sound like there any over all cohesive whole to, synth sound design moments which are parts of and most of too many cues.

Perhaps the only cue with anything worth hearing is The Asteroid Field.

This is something I won't be coming back to.

Strange...I have the orchestra mixes from the Prague sessions and they are rather good ?

I've bought the CD of MOLLY'S GAME yesterday and enjoy it a lot. Although it's used less frantically than in KING ARTHUR, this score also features the rhythmic trademark of this talented composer, featuring a lot of sounds that are directly inspired by pop music. Daniel who plays the guitar here truly belongs to today's very best and most innovative composers. The CD closes on the slow and superb All the beauty in the world. Highly recommended.

SCARBOROUGH will have its world premiere at Berlinale (out of competition?).
Considering its an ultra low budget movie, perhaps it might be something for MSM to consider...?

National Geographic ‘One Strange Rock’: Daniel Pemberton’s Score Debuts Worldwide March 30! Series Directed By Darren Aronofsky

National Geographic and Lakeshore Records partner with Golden Globe®-nominated composer Daniel Pemberton (All the Money in the World, Molly’s Game, Gold, Steve Jobs) to unveil the richly compelling score for “One Strange Rock”, a 10-part global event series premiering on National Geographic on Monday, March 26, at 10/9c. Lakeshore Records will release the original soundtrack digitally on Friday, March 30. Keep reading for more about Daniel Pemberton and this series.

“ONE STRANGE ROCK” Premieres March 26 at 10/9c on National Geographic!

Academy Award®-nominated filmmaker Darren Aronofsky (“mother!,” “Black Swan,” “Requiem for a Dream”) and award-winning producer Jane Root (“America The Story of Us,” “The 80s: The Decade That Made Us”) collaborate with host Will Smith and eight legendary astronauts to tell the extraordinary story of our curiously calibrated, interconnected planet.

Pemberton’s intense score complements the visual brilliance of ONE STRANGE ROCK, exposing the hauntingly ethereal beauty of Earth, the only place we call home. His dynamic sound coupled with the cinematic storytelling takes audiences on an electrifying trip across 45 countries, six continents and outer space.

“Much like how Darren Aronofsky and the rest of the team wanted ONE STRANGE ROCK to feel radically different to anything like it before, I wanted continue that ethos with the soundtrack album,” says Daniel Pemberton. “I wanted to make it much more of an immersive listening experience than just a standard collection of cues from across the series—something that reconnects you with the stories, the visuals and the world when you hear it.”

Pemberton created a special listening experience for the soundtrack recording. “I’ve tried to make music that could only exist right now,” he explains. “But I wanted the listening experience to harken back to classic albums from the 70s by artists like Pink Floyd or Vangelis—albums you’d play all the way through. The soundtrack is broken down into four parts—one for each side of a double LP. It’s a continuous musical trip made for listening and not shuffling.”

“We are thrilled to partner with visionary composer Daniel Pemberton on our series ONE STRANGE ROCK,” says Ashley Winton, Vice President, Music, National Geographic Partners. “The score he created provides the perfect sonic landscape for Darren Aronofsky’s stunning visuals.”

About Daniel Pemberton
DANIEL PEMBERTON (Composer) is a multi Golden Globe and BAFTA Award-nominated composer who has been regularly cited as one of the most exciting and original new voices working in modern film scoring today. “One Strange Rock” marks his first collaboration with legendary director Darren Aronofsky and continues his habit of being sought out by some of the most renowned names in the industry such as Ridley Scott, Danny Boyle, Aaron Sorkin and Guy Ritchie.

His bold writing and unusual and innovative arrangements on scores for movies have seen the soundtracks constantly singled out for critical acclaim whether they are studio films such as such as “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.” or smaller independent features such as last year’s Cannes Palm D’Or nominee “Mal De Pierres” starring Marion Cotillard. Recent work on Ridley Scott’s “All The Money In The World” – as well as his soundtrack to Aaron Sorkin’s “Molly’s Game” and Guy Ritchie’s “King Arthur – Legend Of The Sword” – saw the composer nominated as ‘Composer Of The Year” by the International Film Music Critics Association. His work on Danny Boyle’s “Steve Jobs” and also Stephen Gaghan’s “Gold” (for which he co-wrote a song with Iggy Pop) both garnered Golden Globe nominations for the composer.

Having worked in British television for over two decades on countless Emmy and BAFTA Award-winning dramas and documentaries (such as “Space Dive,” “Peep Show,” “Complicit” “Occupation,” and “Hiroshima”), Pemberton’s big break into feature films came after Ridley Scott was so impressed with his debut film score in 2011 for the period supernatural thriller “The Awakening” that he hired the composer to score his feature “The Counselor”. The pair collaborated again on Scott’s first directorial foray into television, “The Vatican” as well as the recently Oscar nominated picture “All The Money In The World”.

Pemberton is now currently scoring “Oceans 8”, a new female driven twist on the popular heist series directed by Gary Ross and with a cast that includes Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Helena Bonham Carter and Rhianna.

About the Series

There really is no place like home. National Geographic, acclaimed filmmaker Darren Aronofsky (“mother!” “Black Swan,” “Requiem for a Dream”) and award-winning producer Jane Root (“America The Story of Us,” “The 80s: The Decade That Made Us”) join forces on an epic, cinematic event series that will redefine science and natural history filmmaking. Hosted by Will Smith (“Ali,” “Pursuit of Happyness,” “Men in Black I, II, III”), ONE STRANGE ROCK promises to be a mind-bending, thrilling journey exploring the fragility and wonder of our planet, one of the most peculiar, unique places in the universe. It’s the extraordinary story of why life as we know it exists on Earth, brought into perspective by the only people to have left it behind: astronauts. This 10-part series from Nutopia and Protozoa Pictures brings cameras where they’ve never been before, having filmed in 45 countries, on six continents and from outer space on the ISS. ONE STRANGE ROCK guides viewers through our vulnerable speck of a planet among the vast, harsh cosmic arena, revealing the twists of fate that have allowed life to emerge, survive and thrive on Earth.
