No one comes close to Brian Tyler in Marvel's franchise
Uhhh Silvestri came, saw, and surpassed. But I suppose in hindsight, it's better to leave Tyler to the crappy films like Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 while he moves on

No it's used as part of a scene where Loki changes the form of himself and Thor. Loki turns himself into Capt America and jokes about the outfit. Interestingly from the deleted / extended scenes there is a version of it with Loki in shot, not Steve Rogers . I haven't listened to the commentary on it to know if they replaced Loki's head with Rogers.

No, they had Hiddleston play Loki playing Rogers. Then they had Evans copy him. Awesome.
I like Tyler, but I'll believe it when I see it. This is a setup for a letdown. And who's to say the powers that be are going to allow a big thematic score anyway?
Tyler did reference Indiana Jones and Star Wars already when scoring Iron Man 3.
But I do hope that the Tyler will develop his abilities of thematic writing much much more. His themes for themselves could be a bit more complex featuring not just few rhythmic values and progressions and not just basically minor and major chords.
But even more: outstanding thematic writing does not merely mean the themes do pop up in different orchestations. I hope he will on grow on that and develop more musical vocabular to permutate his themes and interconnect them, and use different harmonic progressions with the altered melodic structures etc etc.
It is not enough to just quote the theme when the hero is seen on screen, what happens in Iron Man and Thor.
I think John Powell would be capable to write a score on the same level of brillant construction and architecture as Star Wars and Indy. Tyler and Bates at the time are not, but it is great to know they try to, and maybe they can develop studying the architecture of those milestones more profoundly. But I fear it is more like Thor or Iron Man, the theme pops up basically. Which is not as simple as a lot of other scores today, though.
And please not so much chorus this time. I mean, Iron Man, a armoured suit, technical gadgets ... and then a dramatic choir which conveys sort of carmina burana spectacle. Would have been greater in my opinion to have the choir only in Thor's music (where it is fitting!) to have them differ more. But the walls of choral sounds are tiresome now.
Powell is able to understand and compose the entire iceberg when it comes to thematic writing. Tyler is just seeing and giving the top of it IMO. But the top is even better than having actually nothing but randomly chosen minor chords and drones.
This post sounds pretty negative I guess, but actually I admire Tyler's music, so I apologise for that. It could be even greater and more longliving when it is degree of permutations etc would be even higher etc, like in the scores which are refered to! Not just minor chords, not just simple rhythms, and more alterations of the themes interpolated in the overall tapestry of the entire score.
