Casino Manager: It was a good night, nothing unusual.

Harold: Nothing unusual he says!

Harold: Eric's been blownup to smithereens, Colin's been carved up, & I've got a bomb in my casino, & you say nothing's unusual.

Mission To Mars (2000)

"We'll do the science, and we'll do it really well, because that's what we're trained for. But in all our midst, in every human culture, Mars has always held a special attraction. What if that means something? The universe is not chaos, it's connection. Life reaches out for life. That's what we were born for, isn't it? To stand on a new world, and look beyond it to the next one. It's who we are."

High profile testimonials yesterday reminded me of this scene...

Sam: Excuse me, Dawson, can you put me through to Mr. Helpmann's office?
Dawson: I'm afraid I can't, sir. You have to go through the proper channels.
Sam: And you can't tell me what the proper channels are, because that's classified information?
Dawson: I'm glad to see the Ministry's continuing its tradition of recruiting the brightest and best, sir.
Sam: Thank you, Dawson.

Major Dolby: It isn't usual to read a b107 to its subject palmer, but I'm gonna put you straight.
insubordinate, insolent, a trickster, perhaps with criminal tendencies.

Palmer: Yes, that's a pretty fair appraisal - sir.

Major Dolby: Good. That last quality might be useful, but if I have any trouble with you, palmer, I shall, "Bite" you so hard you'll go right back to where Ross found you!

Flash Gordon (1980)

Dr. Hans Zarkov (Topol) and Dale Arden (Melody Anderson) have this exchange while escaping near death:

"Klytus thought he wiped out your memory."
"Do you know why it really failed?"
"I can't imagine."
"As I was going under, I started to recite Shakespeare, the Talmud, the formulas of Einstein. Everything I could remember. Even a song by the Beatles! It armored me, girl! They couldn't wipe those things away! You cannot beat the human spirit!"

Hemlock: Oh, you didn't know that, did you? Yes your "wrap him up in red, white, and blue" Mr. Dragon's a goddamn Hessian, that's what he is. And he'd sell out the other side as fast as he'd sell out our side. And he'd sell out his mother, too, if the bloodless freak had one.

Two pilots lick their wounds after surviving their helicopters being knocked out of the sky:

"We just got taken down by a monkey the size of a building!"

"Yeah. That was an unconventional encounter."

"...but shouldn't the people know the hero who saved them?"

"A hero can be anyone. Even a man doing something as simple and reassuring as putting a coat around a young boy's shoulders to let him know that the world hadn't ended."

Drumlin: I know you must think this is all very unfair. And maybe that's an understatement. What you don't know is, I agree. I wish the world was a place where fair was the bottom line...where the idealism you showed at the hearing was rewarded, not taken advantage of. Unfortunately, we don't live in that world.

Ellie: Funny...I always believed the world is what we make of it.

Bob (voice over):
Well, to begin with, nobody - and I mean nobody - can talk a junkie out of using.
You can talk to them for years, but sooner or later they'll get ahold of something...
Something to relieve the pressures of their everyday life, like... having to tie their shoes. big grin

Gentry: Bob, tell me. Who shot you?
Bob: The hat.
Gentry: The hat? Bob, did you say "The Hat"?
Bob: Tell Dianne... to look out for the hat. Tell her.
Gentry: OK, Bob. So The Hat shot you. Right, Bob?
Bob: No. The TV baby shot me.
Gentry: The TV Baby shot you but The Hat was with him. Who's The Hat? You gotta tell me so I can tell Dianne.
Bob: Never mind. I'll tell her myself.
