Lots of famous types, but I didn't see any! This year, I was not really there for the film festival, but as a co-host and moderator of the European Film Music Day on May 22nd. I also took a couple of days off after the event, to see Antibes etc. Yes, Cannes is VERY expensive, which is why I wasn't very comfortable there last year (when I spent a whole two weeks for the festival). But I do wish I had stayed a BIT longer; the same day I left, David Lynch and TWIN PEAKS was on later that evening, and although I didn't have a ticket, I could at the very least have tried to see him on the red carpet. Here's my report from the event I participated in: http://filmmusiccritics.org/2017/06/ifmca-members-at-the-european-film-music-dayharpa-nordic-film-composers-award-in-cannes/

Yeah, just a brief trip -- flight to Aberdeen on Friday, hung out and got drunk in a pub crawl, then off to Glen Tanar on Saturday for the wedding. Spectacular estate, with a ballroom decorated with hundreds of animal antlers. Wonderful ceremony ("hand fasting") 3-course dinner, including some whiskey for dessert (brand I do not know) and a steady, free supply of ale and other beers. And champagne. And wine etc. Live band afterwards that played old school rock and pop and Scottish folk music, including local dance routines. Got sloshed again, took the bus back to Aberdeen, and partied at a night club untill 5 in the morning. Spent five whole hours (damn flight delay) on Sunday, extremely hung over. I'm still hung over. But man...wish I had extended my stay. Wanted to see castles and more of the proper Highlands. Will definitely come back!
