Less than 12hrs later Kev outdoes himself!

"Anyway, you keep up that 'aw shucks, honest to goodness' (John Boy Walton?) act of yours."

I presently cannot locate the thread, but one FSM wag wondered aloud if "John Boy" was "The Margo Channing of the FSM Board."

122) My favorite from Octoberman in that infamous Zimmer/Williams thread:

"I'm late to this topic.
Was this fought with knives?"

I did an honest to goodness LOL.

123) In the Football thread, Graham Watt's Sherlockian reply to former Leeds United goalkeeper Tall Guy:

Tall Guy:"I know what it’s like to lose a European Cup final, and I know what it’s like to lose a cup final thanks to a goalkeeping error."

Graham Watt: "Pray tell, TG, of your goalkeeping career in European Cup finals. Either you have been hiding your light under a bushel all this time or you are actually dan the man."

I've taken it upon myself to constantly test this humor-free forum.

Thank you kindly, Bill! I was thinking specifically of the Dented Booklet/Digipak/Where's My Order/That wasn't a Roadshow/ side of the board. It's mostly a different, superior breed on the NFSD side of the forum.

Kane's goal in the CL final was awesome, wasn't it? wink

124) In "When Did Star Wars Jump the Shark?", LeHah, attributing the quote to another FSMer, posted the following truth:

"If JJ Abrams is the Yoko Ono of Star Wars, then Rian Johnson is surely Mark David Chapman."

125) MOsdtks in "Does Jerry Goldsmith Eat at Outback Steakhouse?", which is a masterwork of a topic if there ever was one. I especially savor the feeble resistance against it. However, MOsdtks understands the important things in life:

"I enjoy these kind of threads very much. Collecting and appreciating film music is not a life and death matter. Some take themselves and their HOBBY (and it is a hobby) way too seriously. I get tired of the endless droning about what needs to be released and why everything must be expanded.

Now to the point of the thread. I could have pictured Jerry in an Outback. Though today a Texas Roadhouse would be even better. I always picture Jerry as a grilling kinda guy. But not a slap meat on fire type. We're talking master O' da grill. Every grilling choice a surprise."

126) Ray Worley in the "FSM Board's Dearly Departed" thread, figuratively searching a morgue and wondering aloud if former FSMers Steven Johnson was dead or not.

Bumping this because of the other thread just started.

A couple of folks were mentioned that could be added here, but I'll leave that to someone who knew them better.

Does anyone remember a guy named Steve Johnson? He used a line drawing of Jack Benny for his avatar. I believe he lived in Texas.
He was a fairly prolific poster for a long while. His discussions were lively and he mostly shared my taste in music. He had a quick sense of humor, but not cruel, unlike some folks I won't mention.

Anyway, he disappeared a few years back, although last time I checked his profile was still active. It's a pain in the neck to locate a particular member's profile. The only way I know is to find one of their posts and click on the link. A chore for someone who hasn't posted in 5-6 years.

Anyone know him or what happened to him?

Then, when informed that Johnson's beliefs did not match those of other FSMers', Worley replied:

Ugh! Well, in that case, I concur with your earlier "let sleeping assholes lie". Sorry I brought him up.

127) From 2007-Donna and Greg Bryant in "Stupid Questions, (No Answers Required)":

Donna: "Once you're in heaven, do you get stuck wearing the clothes you were buried in for eternity?"

Greg Bryant: "Pity all the poor people who died during the Disco years."

MV and SchiffyM exchange. I'm always gonna laugh at a Newman joke.

MV

A few answers...

No more Trek this year
No Batman titles
Williams' titles be coming...same with Horner, Goldsmith and Newman
ANNE FRANK not this year
At least one Golden Age set in the works
At least 3 LP releases coming

Oh and in June we are revamping our entire website.

SchiffyM

Williams' titles be coming...same with Horner, Goldsmith and Newman

"Newman" narrows it down to Alfred, Lionel, Randy, David, Thomas, and Joey!

Thor's iceman-centric, heat-stroke-induced weather report in his "light summer film music listening" thread:

"Norway has been one of the hottest spots on the planet over the last two weeks, sweltering temps at 30C[*] in the Oslo area almost every day."

*that's 86 degrees Fahrenheit to us 'mericans (and a comfortable spring day in the southwest U.S.)

In the Richard Donner thread, Thor wrote: "I did a Richard Donner special on my podcast"

I imagined it to be an horrific act akin to a Chicago Sunroof, and it makes me laugh just thinking of the phrase "A Donner Special". I'm so juvenile.

128) Yours Truly and the estimable Preston Neal Jones in the legendary "Alex North Drops Acid and Time Travels to 1966":

Phelps: "Did you ever dream about a place you never really recall being to before? A place that maybe only exists in your imagination? Some place far away, half remembered when you wake up. When you were there, though, you knew the language. You knew your way around. *That* was the sixties. [pause] No. It wasn't that either. It was just '66 and early '67. That's all there was."

Preston Neal Jones: "Am I the only one who'd like to know who and what Jim's quoting? Or am I the only one who doesn't already know?"

[No response from sci-fi-fixated nerds]

Jim Phelps: "It's from Soderbergh's THE LIMEY--I quote it at least twice a month around here. Why? Because it fits nearly every occasion."

Locus amoenus, baby. Locus amoenus.
