I'm always happy to find others who love Carter Burwell's music for 3 of the films in this series. Incidentally, I still have my unopened second copy of the 10 Blu-ray set ordered by mistake, which I'm willing to sell to someone in Southern California for a flat $45 -- with tax, you're probably not going to find a new copy under $56.

MikeP: Jesus. Not you too???

Oh Ron, just kidding a bit big grin The meme is actually pretty on target though lol.

I'll never understand anyone's appreciation for Twilight, another friend of mine is a Twilight fiend and we affectionately debate the merits of the saga. But

But hey, there are movies & books I love which aren't well regarded. We all have our guilty pleasures

Mike:

Thanks. I had just had a repeated and very exasperating and even troubling exchange here with a woman who went on and on about "Twilight" being about a 100 year old man in the bedroom of a teen, and I had, in frustration, stepped away from that, only to see your "If those were 40 year old men screaming for 17 year old girls someone would call the police," ergo my "Not you too???" I was weary of pointing out that this was a fantasy, not a real story, and that it was the 100 year old man who tried his best to keep his distance from the girl, who was actively pursuing HIM. But I would prefer to close the book on that aspect of the series! Enough!

I'm not a woman, if that's the conversation to which you're referring.

Just to balance things out, Ron - keep in mind I don't like any of the "classic" Godzilla movies ( using the word "classic" very loosely big grin ) but I love the Emmerich version of Godzilla, which to me is a real hoot of a good time .

Soooo I can't cast any stones at you for Twilight, my friend !

MP: Re: "Soooo I can't cast any stones at you for Twilight, my friend !"

Thank you. Which is why we probably should go easy on those who love movies (and scores) that we may hate. But that's certainly easier said than done, and I've been guilty of goring a few sacred cows myself (like "Tree of Life"). What puzzles me is the venom that some direct towards particular movies and soundtracks, as if we believe that if WE hate it then everyone else must hate it too. I've seen that with the "Twilight" series as well as "Oblivion" and singers and even composers -- look at some of the awful things written on this site about Hans Zimmer! It all comes back to Art and how we react to it -- consider how some lovers of traditional painting reacted negatively to "modern" art. Or, for that matter, music when it deviated from what listeners were accustomed to hearing. The important thing is to not savage that which we can't appreciate. We can certainly say that we don't like something, but it's wrong to make a huge deal out of it.
