An alien being chooses two children to assist him in improving the Earth...

A spaceship on a scientific mission is flung into the far reaches of outer space...

A police lieutenant fights organised crime on a distant planet......these are The Lost Worlds of Gerry Anderson!

Creator of the legendary Thunderbirds, Gerry Anderson scored incredible successes throughout the 1960s and '70s with Captain Scarlet, UFO, Space: 1999 and other series which appealed to both children and adults alike. Not all his ideas, however, went to a full series and this set contains the 1970s pilots for both The Investigator and The Day After Tomorrow, as well as the 1986 pilot for Space Police, which was eventually reworked as Space Precinct nearly a decade later. Alongside these rare and much sought after programmes, this collector's set also includes:

[] Here Comes Kandy and You've Never Seen This - Gerry's earliest work, from 1955

[] Image galleries for all three pilots

[] New transfer of remaining film elements for Space Police, alongside the 1992 "Reloaded" edit and test footage

[] Dick Spanner, PI - an unscreened episode with accompanying image gallery

[] Blue Skies Ahead and an accompanying Blue Cars advert, made by Gerry in partnership with Nicholas Parsons

British distributors Network will add five new titles to their Blu-ray catalog: Alfred Hitchcock's Sabotage (1936), Gus Van Sant's To Die For (1995), Peter Yates' Robbery (1967), Alberto Lattuada's Without Pity (1948), and Halas & Batchelor Collection

Sabotage

Celebrated for the macabre, tour-de-force plots and sublime twist endings that would come to define the very genre of suspense, Alfred Hitchcock is one of cinema's greatest auteurs, his career spanning six decades and over sixty films. Based on Joseph Conrad's The Secret Agent and starring Oscar Homolka and Sylvia Sidney, Sabotage is one of Hitchcock's most significant pre-war British films. Featured here in a High Definition transfer from original film elements, this classic early thriller has never looked better.

Karl Verloc, manager of a London cinema, is secretly involved with a gang of European saboteurs who are plotting a massive bomb attack in Piccadilly Circus. With the police already suspicious of Verloc, they place an undercover detective on his trail – can he bring the saboteurs to justice before they perpetrate their outrage on London?

Fifteen minutes of fame was never going to be enough for Suzanne. Married to small-town restaurateur Larry Maretto, all she ever wanted was to be a high-flying anchorwoman on network TV. Robbery

Based on the planning and execution of criminal cause celebre The Great Train Robbery, this taut, meticulously researched drama stars Stanley Baker as a crime boss undertaking the heist of his career – with James Booth, Frank Finlay and Barry Foster among the gang he assembles.

Co-produced by Baker and directed by multiple-Oscar-nominated Peter Yates, Robbery is a classic of British Film – exceptionally scripted (winning a WGGB Award for Best British Screenplay), beautifully acted and sporting a legendary score by composer-arranger Johnny Keating. It is presented here as a brand-new High Definition transfer from original film elements in its original aspect ratio.

Without Pity

Co-written by a young Federico Fellini and directed by Alberto Lattuada, this award-winning film from the earlier years of Italian Neo-realist cinema stars John Kitzmiller as a black G.I. who opts to stay in Italy rather than return to a racially segregated U.S. after falling in love with an impoverished local girl.

While its groundbreaking theme of inter-racial love made Without Pity one of the most significant and daring films of the immediate post-War period, it was banned in the United States and, as such, has never received wider recognition for its frank, sensitive handling of a subject that for many years was still controversial.

A film that helped launch Fellini's career yet little-seen throughout the decades since its initial release, Without Pity (Senza Pieta) is featured here in a brand-new High Definition restoration from the original film elements in its as-exhibited theatrical ratio.

STREET DATE: JUNE 8.

Halas & Batchelor Collection

Highly influential and internationally acclaimed, the fondly-remembered work of husband-and-wife animation team John Halas and Joy Batchelor encompassed children's series, public education films and adverts, and they were affectionately referred to as 'the British Disney'. This collection of short films will both remind and reinforce how stunningly innovative, whimsically humorous and subversively entertaining their four decade body of work actually was.

From an uncannily prophetic, Oscar-nominated satire on technological overkill and automated gridlock (Automania 2000) to the adventures of two paper-cutout canines (Snip and Snap), the films present wide-ranging content in a gloriously inventive fashion. Drawn from an archive that includes numerous international award winners, these animated gems have been newly transferred in High Definition from the original film elements; all showcase the beguiling humour, questing yet playful spirituality and sheer technical brilliance that characterised the studio's output, serving as both an introduction to and celebration of a unique body of work that is ripe for re-evaluation.

I think I'm going to have to have the Halas & Batchelor collection. My first job was at a home movie company, & the Hoffnung cartoon was one of the films we used to sell. I can still remember it, although I haven't seen it for nearly 50 years! A couple of years later I went for an interview at Halas & Batchelor for a job as a trainee film editor, I didn't get it, but they were very nice to me (I can just about remember seeing all the framed awards on the wall).

This groundbreaking ATV children's drama memorably blends hard science and fantasy in its tale of two teenagers who discover the existence of a 'time barrier' enabling them to travel to different periods and locations – from World War Two to chilling visions of the future.

Devised by Ruth Boswell – who would go on to produce both The Tomorrow People and Shadows – Timeslip was unabashedly intelligent and often prescient in its theme of the use and abuse of science. Well remembered to this day as a benchmark of 1970s telefantasy, this set contains all 26 episodes alongside a wealth of special features.

Three children have vanished from the tiny Midlands village of St Oswald. First to disappear is local girl Sarah, then Simon Randall and Liz Skinner, who are on holiday with Liz's parents. Only Commander Traynor, an apparent stranger to the area, can offer some idea of where they are – and that idea is so incredible and horrifying that the Skinners cannot believe it...

SPECIAL FEATURES:
[] Behind the Barrier : feature-length documentary
[] Beyond the Barrier : mini-episode
[] Exclusive book on the making of the series by television historian Andrew Pixley
[] Back to the Barrier : the cast return to the series location
[] 2007 Convention footage
[] PDF archive featuring scripts and production paperwork
[] Image gallery
[] Disc text features – including an overview of Timeslip comic strip artist Mike Noble

The Ghost Restored (or the man in the off-white suit)

Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased) is on its way to blu-ray… which should come as welcome news for fans of the series. Remastering from original film elements is already well under way, and as to the results… well, you’ve already had a taster in the form of the trailer we released last week. It’s coming sooner than you think. Read on…

A Sentimental Journey…

Of all the ITC action-adventure series of the 1960s and early ’70s, Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased) remains one of the most fondly remembered, even after nearly fifty years. Mike Pratt and Kenneth Cope took the title roles of the downbeat detective and his paranormal partner respectively, with Cope donning an all-white suit and boots in his ghostly guise. All white? Well, that’s what we all thought. One thing that the remastering process has revealed is that Marty’s suit wasn’t quite as white as we imagined. In fact, it was decidedly off-white when seen against his brilliant white shirt…

My Late, Lamented Opening Titles…

‘It’s all right, Jeff: Jeannie can’t see or hear me. Nobody can. Only you, Jeff, only you!’ This narration from the ghostly Hopkirk was all any viewer needed to jump straight into the world of Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased). No matter if you missed the pilot episode – the opening credits told the backstory every week of the original transmission. On later broadcasts, however, the titles were different – and a mystery was born beyond even the investigative powers of Marty Hopkirk! It’s a bit complicated to explain here, but all will be revealed further down the line. For the moment, let it suffice to say that the original titles from the first UK broadcasts have been restored for this new blu-ray edition.

When Can you Expect to Start Seeing Things?

The complete series of Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) will be released on blu-ray next October… but you can get your hands on the first four episodes from January 9th, with a second volume following shortly afterwards, and the remainder to come between now and the end of April next year.

It means that instead of completing all the remastering work and then releasing the set, we’ll be releasing episodes just as soon as they are ready. Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) will be offered in six individual volumes at £10 per volume. Buy all six and you’ll receive an exclusive free slipcase to house them all (a Networkonair exclusive).

Handling cases that are too baffling to be solved by normal police routine is all in a day's work for Department S - a shadowy Interpol department that specialises in the inexplicable and the illogical!

This cult ITC series stars Peter Wyngarde as flamboyant, dandified novelist Jason King – who uses his overactive imagination and droll wit to help solve the most difficult of cases – Joel Fabiani as no-nonsense "action man" Stewart Sullivan and Rosemary Nicols as gorgeous computer expert Annabelle Hurst. Newly remastered in HD from the original 35mm film elements for this Blu-ray edition, Department S has never looked better!

On this disc:

The Man in the Elegant Room
A beautiful room, complete in every detail, erected inside a disused factory. Its contents: a dead girl and a gibbering, demented young man.

The Pied Piper of Hambledown
What is the secret of a ghost village? All the inhabitants, it seems, have been kidnapped - all except one...

A Cellar Full of Silence
Four bodies, all in fancy dress, are found in the cellar of an empty house.

The Trojan Tanker
A dangerous road lies ahead when the highly inflammable material inside a crashed tanker turns out to be not petrol, but a beautiful blonde!
