I heard that Conrad Pope is the conductor/orchestrator on this one and Alita: Battle Angel. Is it true? If you're looking for any Peter Jackson trademarks here, you'll be disappointed. I was also disappointed in the score, even though I'm a huge fan of JXL in general. He's one of the best around at the moment. Do you have a link to the trailer? He comes and goes for me. I love his contribution for Batman V Superman and his score for Mad Max Fury Road, but others... many, many others... ? The first trailer seemed interesting until more of them arrived. Now they're just selling the one conceit, and I can't help but to feel that the film will play out the same way. For me, BRIMSTONE and DISTANCE BETWEEN DREAMS (gorgeous!) in addition to the ones you mentioned. I think he's best when he's not doing mainstream, big Hollywood things (FURY ROAD is more an auteur film than a big Hollywood thing, for example, so is Zack Snyder). There were good bits scattered about in MORTAL ENGINES -- a very pronounced main theme, a beautiful love theme. But a lot of it is pounding RC ostinati, unfortunately. But I've only heard it in the film. Yeah, I understand what you mean. Perhaps 'generic Hollywood' is a better term than 'big Hollywood'. Snyder is a love/hate director, but he's certainly not generic. His extravaganzas always bear the stamp of an auteur director. BATMAN VS. But for films like these, I tend to blame the director and/or the pressure of the 'finance' guys.
