It has been confirmed beyond doubt, that the Silva Screen album contains the only exisiting recordings that came out of the Goldsmith sessions. And I am happy with that. Mr Paul MacLean and James Fitzpatrick, and I believe Ford Thaxton, have all chimed in on the matter and put this to rest. The exisiting album is fantastic and worthy, and definitive as far as it goes. But what would be the possibility of a complete re-recording with all of the music? As far as I understand, there may be various cues that were recorded but not even heard in the film itself! "Hall of Columns," and I think I read somewhere that there was some music composed for Jack's final battle with Darkness that isn't on the CD. Maybe something called "Pan Fight." Who knows. David Newman conducted some of these cues during a Goldsmith tribute back in 2011. (Anyone know where I could hear that?? It hasn't surfaced online for some reason, arggh!) The synthesizers are numerous and quite complex on this one, which would seem to make a new recording a daunting one. City of Prague has proven quite capable. I am all for them recording Legend anew! Let's all Sing the Wee hope this happens! -Rick O. If you would like to send me $75,000 I can record LEGEND all over again if you really want it so much... That budget might need to be revised upwards, as I recall the written scores and parts were lost as well. You'd have to go back to Jerry Sketches and recreate everything from that as well. Ford A. Thaxton Put it this way there is absolutely no way in my lifetime that Tadlow Music or Prometheus Records will ever spend a penny of a new recording of LEGEND ....mostly because I am more than happy with the CD and double LP I produced for Silva. But as I always say if some people want it bad enough I can send them my bank details so that they can deposit the $75,000 plus to get such a recording done.... However, there is the suite that David Newman conducted a few years back. That suite would mean that there exists the possibility of doing a new recording of Legend with your orchestra. Would it be possible to record that suite as part of any upcoming Goldsmith recordings? The Blue Max had a ton of suites and themes (albeit, ones that were part of your library). I would like to see it represented someday; maybe part of a "Goldsmith Fantasy and Horror Collection". -Rick O. Then maybe petition David Newman to do a recording....I am sure he is rather more wealthy then me ? James, I *get* the monetary concerns that a project like this would entail. Like I said before, this is out of my hands just as it is yours. The reason I post this, is simply to engage the *possibilty* of doing this title, whether as a suite or a complete score with the City of Prague. The purpose of this message board is to encourage dialogue about film music and even "dream" about possibilities! It's not meant as critisism of the existing "LEGEND" album which is superlative. And I thank you and your efforts for making these things happen. "THE RED PONY" suite, which is also a Newman arranged piece, makes me feel that his similarly arranged "LEGEND" and "POLTERGEIST" suites, would be possible for inclusion as part of any upcoming Goldsmith projects. Whether or not this could actually happen, is not up to me. But I feel like it's a good idea to voice ideas, thoughts and desires -- because it's fun for me to do so. And quite frankly, the "BLUE MAX" project was a dream come true, which proves that if we can think it, it can happen. Many believe that "BEN-HUR" is perfectly "fine" and "acceptable," but many desire a new recording. And that *is* going to happen... Who am I to know what could happen or not happen... -Rick O.

There are a couple of moments that are audible in the European cut and Director's edition that aren't on the existing expansion (I have the Silva edition), and several other portions that are clearly alternate takes. On the whole, I am satisfied with the current version of the score, but if a complete edition were to materialize, I would definitely get it. The 76 minute CD I prepared for Silva Screen has every last note of music that was on the tapes stored for safety by engineer Mike Ross....no other tapes exist. Can't you be happy with 76 minutes of score????? My 2002 album shows a 70 min running time. soundtrackcollector.com shows two Silva 70 min releases, the longest available. What am I missing!?! What album is 76 min?

Come on, James... you're telling me there's not any extended portions or alternate takes of "Wringle, Wrangle, Wringle Wrangle..." ?!?! I'm hoping for an extended club mix one day. I do not know how to say this as I have repeated it so often! The only surviving tape from the London sessions was the 1630 stereo safety copy of the 72 minutes I mastered for Silva Screen ... all other tapes disappeared when Sony Whitfield Street closed. So you might just have to be content with the 72 minutes that exists as no other source elements exist.... and there certainly will never be a new recording from Tadlow or Prometheus as that type of scores is just impossible to recreate.... Read those again, I think you'll see we were joking ( after all, an extended club mix? ). Maybe a few would have helped Me, I love the Silva CD. To me it sounds fine with great packaging. Very content with this one. Now, if we can get someone, anyone, to release a complete Tangerine Dream Legend !

I have an unmentionable that has a few unreleased tracks, two versions of "Hall of Columns" and an extended "Dress Waltz", and two alternate cues one of which is a slightly different "The Unicorns" - these seem to be from a tape source of some kind. I have listened to these cues, all of which come off as legitimate and totally genuine. Could you please explain these to me?
