Time to counteract this moldy jazz and classical music, and beef up the dance floor with one of the most legendary EDM DJs:

(my own personal sampler)

Just bought Out There And Back on a cheap CD.

Is Forbidden Fruit still his most catchy single?

Sting- Dream of the Blue Turtles

"How can I save my little boy
From Oppenheimer's deadly toy?
There is no monopoly on common sense
On either side of the political fence
We share the same biology
Regardless of ideology
Believe me when I say to you
I hope the Russians love their children too"

~"Russians"

Looking forward to see him live in my hometown this coming summer. Suzanne Vega comes too.

Yeah, I think so. It's definitely the most famous.

Haydn: 45 Symphonies & 3 Overtures - Vienna State Orchestra/Max Goberman

Disc 7: Sym. 27, 32, 34 & 35

This is a great set!
Such a pity Goberman died midway through this project.

I'm tempted by this set (although it's not yet available in the U.S.), however I understand it's compiled from a variety of sources - 3-track original tapes, 2-track mix-downs which didn't make use of the center channel, and LP transfers. How consistent is the sound quality, JohnnyG?

So far I've only listened to the disc posted above, the "Matin/Midi/Soir" trio of symphonies and a couple of others so I couldn't answer the consistency question but all of the above sounded very good with great stereo separation and placing of instruments. What you don't get is concert hall ambience but the close-up sound - which is very warm and inviting - makes the (fairly large orchestra by today's HIP standards) seem smaller and gives solo passages a wonderful immediacy.
It's worth it, Essankay!

Thanks for the info, JohnnyG. Haydn is definitely among my favorite composers and while I already have an almost-complete set of the symphonies cobbled together from Roy Goodman, Trevor Pinnock, Sigiswald Kuijken, and Roger Norrington, I'm very tempted as I said by this Goberman set as well as by the Hogwood/Academy of Ancient Music set which is being reissued soon. Too many good choices!
