Evil Genius - a 4 part Netflix doco about the guy in 2003 in Eerie, PA who had a bomb collar strapped to his neck and was forced to rob a bank. It's pretty riveting.

The Bridge still very good. Blacklist getting sillier and more contrived every week. Billions is still superb altho a little too smug.

Finished THE TERROR. It was really good and actually dispensed with some of the problematic stuff that lost me towards the end of the novel. Unrelentingly grim but very watchable. Will probably be better the second time now that i've worked out exactly who some of the secondary and background characters are. Great production values and fantastic acting. should be up for some awards somewhere at sometime. The CGI beast wasn't the best but wasn't enough to ruin it. The beast aspect was probably not even 15% of it, it would still have worked extremely well without it as a depiction of people getting themselves into a horrible situation and going mad trying to find a way out. I'm definitely buying the blu-ray of the series if they do one, and hope it has some sort of commentaries on it by the writers and producers and actors.

Killing Eve - Wow, what a show!!! This rocketed out of nowhere onto my radar, from BBC America, and it is simply stellar entertainment!! Sharp, witty writing with pitch perfect casting and acting performances from everyone involved. If you have not seen this or were waiting, check it out. First episode will definitely hook you! I knew next to nothing about this show and am thrilled that I caught it. 9/10 for me. Lost in Space - based on the production values and special effects(superb I should say), this has to be a pretty big budgeted film from Netflix and after something of a rocky first couple of episodes, I really got into it and thoroughly enjoyed it by end of the first season. It is nice too that they were able to straddle the line of family drama and adventure and for an intents and purposes, they pull it off. Great cast and performances as well, especially from Molly Parker as Maureen Robinson. She is the cornerstone of this show and she is amazing. I first caught her in her supporting role in "House of Cards" and it's great seeing her front and center in this one. 7.5 out of 10 for the show. The Terror Finished watching this extraordinary production of Dan Simmons novel of the same name and I loved. I do hope the cast and crew get some awards for this show as it was so well done. Thrilling and grim and taut, this is yet more proof that television production is on the same par, if not passed, film making in terms of quality , and that in everything. 9/10

THE STAIRCASE on Netflix. A true crime documentary about an author who did or didn't murder his wife on the stairs. 13 eps, i'm 7 in. It's really engrossing. I think if you liked Evil Genius or the Robert Durst documentary then you'll like this a lot. I'm not into true crime stuff at all and usually shy away from it but i find this compelling viewing. I haven't seen How to Make a Murderer but i've heard it's getting towards being as good as that. Certainly this one makes me question the jury system and the media are terrifying in their stupidity and wanting to tell a story regardless of truth. Why people like Nancy Grace (who is only shown incidentally in it briefly for about 30 seconds but comes across as pure, pure scum) are alive and employed is appalling.

I watched Place Beyond the Pines last night and thought it was very good 8/10. I kind of missed Gosling's character in the last half of the movie; Cooper was good but I didn't find his character anywhere near as interesting. Of course, it's hard following a bank robber, I know.
