Perhaps not so much in THE PATRIOT, but certainly in films like INDEPENDENCE DAY, THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW, WHITE HOUSE DOWN etc. It's ALWAYS been part of Emmerich's "project" in Hollywood. The big draw of THE PATRIOT (beyond Williams' score and brilliant production design) is Mel's physical, intense performance. And to a lesser extent, Heath Ledger's. I really like this film.

One of Williams best scores in that time period, but the film sucks. Only thing worse than an Emmerich film is one with Mel (bat sh*t crazy) Gibson in it.

Super-big fan of both Emmerich and Gibson (both as actor and director), so we're on different planets there. But glad we both like THE PATRIOT score, at least.
