Interestingly, I have no nostalgic connection to the movie, despite growing up in that exact period. For some reason, I didn't see when I was a kid. But I saw it as an adult, and liked it. I'm sure I would have been all over it, had I seen it back then. The above has been my experience as well. I was 14 in 1985, and was just out of the film's target age range. I don't think I even saw Goonies in its entirety until 2006 or so. The movie's okay, but I prefer more of a STAND BY ME-style coming of age story. YES, I am a Goonies fan and so is my wife. That was the first film we had a common love for being 80's kids. Now we try to have our son watch it and he has no interest. Oh well, not for everyone. I get all "deep" and "reflective" in this Goonies thread from a few years back: http://filmscoremonthly.com/board/posts.cfm?threadID=70209&forumID=7&archive=0 The Goonies DVD has a fun commentary on it.
