The Landmaster was the "star" of the film, though I have no recollection of the "elastic" middle. Reminds me of a Slinky!

It's just a material that "connects" the front and rear halves of the Landmaster. Not sure why it was designed that way...

...but when I saw D.A. at the drive-in, I DID NOT CARE! I loved that movie. Hell, I still do. It's a memento. And Goldsmith's score is boss.

Btw, I saw Laserblast at the same drive-in...on a double-bill with Star Wars. I saw Star Crash there, too.

Yeah, now you're jealous of me, sucka!! Hahaha!! big grin

I watched the film in a movie theater back then. It's a flawed family-oriented film but it has its moments.

Story-wise, it has a lot of loose ends, short cuts and plot holes.

I like the western structure of the film: it's basically a stage coach and travel film that is paired with a biblical subtext.

Two scenes that I enjoy: the deserted town filled with cockroaches and the weird hillbillies of the gas station.

It could be there was a substantial amount trimmed from the first part of the film. When the novel was re-published with the release of the film, it had a section with photos from the film, and there were several shots of Hamilton in the Control Room, looking rumpled and drunk, so it had to be post-Apocalypse.

No one's ever talked about lost scenes from the film, not even the producer in his commentary on the disc release. So, who knows -- maybe, if they still exist, they could make the film a better watch.

Or not...

Real art. The power of actually crafting a set, prop, or vehicle.

That video though... I can't help but think of giant happy Pandas sliding down a slide...

Did that thing have any shock absorbers on it? Looks painful for the back!

The major soundtrack labels no doubt realize that there is great demand for this title. Either re-record the synth tracks over the the original score or do a complete re-recording! Get to it!

The reason for the renewed discussion of the film is that Intrada is expected to release the soundtrack on Tuesday. They either found the synth elements, or replicated them, as you had suggested.

I went over to the Intrada site and, holy smokes, you're right! A great Christmas present!
