The more I read about the ties between the upcoming Star Wars franchise and the existing one, the less excited I get... do your own thing, don't let this become a rehash of the original trilogy and most certainly don't tie it in with the atrocity that so called preceded those.

All that is missing is the announcement of Death Star 3!

We never actually saw Palpatine die though. He fell, but so did Luke near the end of TESB...and survived.

He may have had time to get to a small shuttle and escape before the Death Star II was destroyed

I seem to remember a forceful plum of blue energy thrusting out of the reactor (or what ever Darth dumped him in.) Indicating a large explosion. That say's dead to me.

Another good reason to never join the Empire. Had they allowed OSHA to do a proper inspection, they clearly would have had better railings in place to prevent such a workplace hazard!

I think letting Palpatine live to appear again is a bit cheap, but if they can make a good story out of it, it would do. Yet I think the Sith are bigger than we know, so it's possible to have a bigger enemy out there.

It's pretty clear there's either flashbacks or a time travel story here. So they could shoehorn him in.

Oh, and that picture of Jaws above made me wonder, perhaps the Bond films could have a little of the camp back with an imposing henchman like that introduced.

You're getting your wish. Skyfall already had those elements worked into the stew, so to speak.

I want two things in the next bond movie: Jaws and outer space! big grin

Hopefully thats just talk. Keeping Palpatine dead is the right thing to do. In an entire UNIVERSE of possibilities we don`t need to resurrect every element from previous movies. I liked that 'inquisitor' conceptual posted before.

(Note: hope they aren`t returning to Tatooine... hub of the universe®...)

Heh.
I will take 10 Palpatines if they just subtract 1 Jar-Jar.
