I sure hope this title gets released some time in the near future. by the way I just finished listening to the 2cd score of THE NAKED MAJA and I have to say that if anyone likes flamenco dances and other different types of Spanish dance, this is a truly excellent soundtrack to obtain. it is a great release that I know soundtrack lovers will enjoy.

I have asked at Cometa what happened with their planned CD release and this is the rather strange reply:

"Due to just a few pre-orders, reluctantly, we canceled the CD of the soundtrack of Lavagnino "Jovanka E LE ALTRE" perhaps even to the crisis that has hit Europe. Anyway one of the first CD that will print will be the soundtrack CD of Lavagnino "Jovanka E LE ALTRE".

Wow. I guess it's the language barrier, but that makes no sense whatsoever.

And who decides whether to do a soundtrack release based on pre-orders? I don't believe any of our beloved specialty labels do that.

My guess is that probably the last couple of Cometa CD releases didn't really sell well for them and so they now even consider to withdraw from the soundtrack CD business again. Considering the over-saturation of the market nowadays and how few collectors are in fact interested in these older Italian scores - and the more so if it doesn't come from a popular genre like Western, Horror or Giallo or Peplum or if it isn't a Morricone score - this should wonder nobody. So many scores from the US labels are released throughout each month which get most of the attention of the collectors worldwide so that little-known gems from Europe are mostly overshadowed. So this could also be a reason that Cometa is disappointed with their CD sales and therefore this term "European crisis". Maybe they thought they could sell 1000 or more copies of one title and the reality was that it's only a few hundred or even less on each one for them.

is it possible that either digitmovies, intermezzo media or Alhambra could undertake this project if cometa has decided not to go ahead with it?

Reviving something on MR LAVAGNINO'S career I feel is fitting these days. He did a fine score for another good big monster movie of another era GORGO-59.
