"Has anyone got a shipping notice from SAE yet?"
------------------------------------------
Nope! Still waiting for mine...pending (it's ordered with Crazy People and some bargain Schifrin).

Got mine from SAE today. Certainly not my favorite Pino score but any Pino is welcome.

Well I'm sure you're on the preferred list Bruce!

I ordered it with Dave Grusin's Candy. Hopefully soon.

Just going through this CD now. Pretty enjoyable.

I was sort of amused by the TRIBUTE TO HITCHCOCK cut, however, which is supposed to be a tribute to VERTIGO. It's really much more like a TRIBUTE TO DEPALMA, as the melody is much more like the waltz from OBSESSION.

I just want to give a shout out to the fine folks at QUARTET for releasing such a wonderful Pino score. Your sound quality and art direction, as always, are superb! You really are raising the bar on even the smallest of releases. As a fan I can't thank you enough for this elegant packaging and as a label you are making us all look bad with this sleek, top notch product design and incredible slate of releases. smile

Keep up the great work!

I always love seeing representatives of one label giving a fellow label kudos.

So kudos to you, MV!

Two huge thumbs way down on this wannabe Herrmann Pino Donaggio score. The music has little or no value, nothing to hang on to, heard this score before by more capable hands. I would not recommend this CD even to the most avid Donaggio fan,

[cough]!! [splutter]!!...what???!!! Are you listening to the same cd i am? Great wee score this, full of classic Pino flourishes. Some nice chase stuff..good atmospherics and a slightly sleazy toe-tapping tune as well. What more could you want!

Obviously he wants a Herrmann score, because the movie is called "DO YOU LIKE HERRMANN?". wink

Still playing this one a lot and often catch myself looping some of the more catchy motifs Donaggio wrote for this.

I haven't played my copy yet. Been hitting Crazy People lots (hello).
It's a nice package indeed, and it doesn't mention the 500 number anywhere on the CD, only that it's a limited edition. Hard to believe it's hasn't sold-out 500 copies yet!
Where's the Pino Love?

Finally got around to giving this score a spin.
It's a brand new Donaggio score for me, having never seen the film or heard a note of the music.
From the first go-through, it's a 50/50 score for me, in that half of it features what I love about Donaggio (rich, lush, thematic writing ala Herrmann and such, quirky catchy pop-like lighter scoring, plus some spooky female vocals) and also what I don't like about him (harsh, throbbing electronics, courtesy of Paolo Steffan, that sound like Brad Fiedel on a bad day).
After a few more listens, I'll edit out the tracks I don't care for and create my 30 some minute play list of the good stuff.
Still, great release, mucho gracias Quartet folks smile
