Well, my import guy gave me a price of that box set and it's a little on the high side for the time being, but he's able to get in the 15-track best-of, so I'm eagerly awaiting that arrival.
I saw them in Cincinnati during this tour. Had VIP tickets and got to meet them and get autographs. I picked up this poster at the show and had it signed, along with a CD and another smaller poster.
It was a really good show. I wasn't all that familiar with their music before the show, but I enjoy it more now than I did before seeing them.
Well, my CD came in the other day and I've been grooving with it on-and-off. The "best of" disc I ordered was definitely the best way to start off.
It's quite tasty stuff and, considering how my only previous exposure to them was through my "Suspiria" DVD, I'm pleased to find that their other material is pretty much how I imagined it all these years.
It's exactly the type of cinematic proggy stuff I really enjoy... sort of a cool mix of Floyd and Oldfield, with even a bit of TD in it occasionally. In fact, 2 tracks from "Deep Red" are such blatant steals from Oldfield's "Tubular Bells" that I laughed out loud. I can't believe Oldfield didn't go after them!
Do any of the older fans remember when DEEP RED-74- played in theatres they handed out a 45 record of the main theme. It is one of the biggest mystery's of my life because some how I guess in transport I lost it in the 80's I imagine it might be worth something now.In NEW YORK it opened in spring, I saw it on a weekday afternoon with about 10 people in the theatre.
