Where would one go to hear that music from JTTFSOTS??
well I think Granada Media have the masters now, or whatever left Carlton didn't lose(although I heard the original reels may be re-transferred). I don't know the position at Universal, whether they have anything or not.
In the meantime there's literally loads of Barry Gray mp3's at Marc Martins UFO site(from all the Anderson shows) at www.ufo series.com( http://www.ufoseries.com/barry/index.html ) there's about 4 tracks from JTTFSOTS there(approx 8- 10 mins worth).
Lots of the tracks at the site were saved by fans , Barry would send out music cassettes to fans who wrote to him,
Barry Gray's music played a massive part in my young development into turning me into the film score lover I am today.
Same here. the very first movie score I bought with money from my first job at age 15 was Gray's Space:1999 LP. That was in 1975. I just had it transferred to CD, but I can never part with the original LP, due to the sentimental value.
p.s. Not sure what Tester meant but as a melodist, theme-smith and arranger Barry was 100% FIRST CLASS!
Gray was able to do some first class, nailbiting action cues and he was master of the power theme!
