I've noticed how many of my favorite posts are from the Non-Film Score Discussion side of the forum. There's just too much "Ordered!"/"When will this score be released?"/dented booklet-cracked jewel case-no jewel case nonsense.

now there is a favourite post of mine, straight away. Succinct, honest, and highlighting to General discussion posters what is wrong with it. wink

Yes, I should point out that I was referring to the General Discussion side of the board as having all the nonsense.

I agree, Jim. I grow weary of those topics. I'd like to add another topic that seems so senseless to me. A poster will announce that a movie coming out next year is going to be scored by Composer XYZ. It will be months before we can see this movie or hear this score. Yet, that topic will draw thousands of views and hundreds to thousands of responses supporting the composer or denigrating that composer. We haven't heard a single note, but the topic draws people in. Meanwhile, some current, interesting topics are read by only a few and garner only a few responses. That makes me mad.

Okay, rant over. I feel better. smile

Wow, dying breed? If joan wasn't mad or sad before, she will be now Bill. Maybe "old guard" would have sounded better? Perhaps diehards or bourgeois?

Actually, it was pretty funny and I am waiting for her tart and witty response.....smile

I personally enjoy "The Thunderdome" threads, but I agree a lot of interesting threads and topics are passed by or ignored.

54) Preston Neal Jones' Golden Age condescension in the "Robert Benchley---Genius!" thread:

"Don't forget Benchley was first and foremost a writer. I recommend a trip to the library, and some exploration and discovery."

I took cello lessons as a kid. Never did my teacher tell me I needed to whip my head around orgasmically when I played. I could have been a contender!

55) MikeJ "sticking it" to Best James Bond Ever, Daniel Craig, and NOT Best Football Team Ever, Liverpool FC:

"Kev, here's a picture of Daniel Craig that actually reminds me of LFC....

See, he's sliding down a table......."

56) Once again, I must humbly submit a post from yours truly. This time in the "Mickey Spillane, R.I.P." thread.

Mark of Score-O: "Every gumshoe takes the Big Sleep eventually. Crime marches on."

Jim Phelps: "Wrong author. But thanks for trying."

Storyteller: "LOL"

*Then, Score-O scrambles to recover*

Come back, mike, come back...!

"Mike J Come Back", by Player

Because we can never read enough about how "great" Roger Moore era James Bond movies are! LOL!

(Don't think this song was a big hit over in Old Blighty)
