There used to be a thread called something like "How does one get a girlfriend?" that was particularly entertaining. Does anyone remember that one?

Prescription filled, Dr. Channing (though it's a pretty rotten thread):

Gulp. Better to let sleeping dogs lie. I misremembered that post as entertaining when in fact it was sad. Apologies.

There are some topics addressing the same issue. One of which was when Dan Hobgood offered to advise our Mr. Jack on dating, which I thought was an ace thing to do.

I don't know if Mr. Jack ever took Dan up on that offer of assistance.

Similarly Dib's If you want to Meet Women had some fun posts.

50) Joan Hue's send off to a certain deceased simian-worshiping FSMer in the "Film Score Haiku" thread:

"Ape-dip-wad has disappeared"

Bravo (and great riddance)

Jim, that jogs my memory. I better look up that topic.

I'm going crazy trying to figure out the Ape-worshipper's user name.

Gawd, I've been here long enough to know who that is, but not long enough to have seen what things were like hereabouts closer to the start.

RoryR, I believe. He just went a bit too far. I could see it coming. Did he do it on purpose, because knowing how he posted, it was cutting things very close indeed? He'd done it before (it was part of his style), but I guess, when that 'invisible' threshold is crossed it's 50/50 at best. It was like, a tangible force of repulsion vibes came from a majority of onlookers, and the elastic just snapped very suddenly.

Flinging poo at Sones? And for no reason yet? Never a good idea.

His/Her/It's appearance in the haiku thread was just a passing mention. A footnote, basically.

I try not to talk about members who can no longer respond. But I will say this, I think he wanted to get banned, and achieving that goal somehow showed his superiority over the rest of us. Besides he might still be lurking as a secret agent, a young composer or an Asian chic. I dunno.

51) Former FSMer "gorgious" remark in my 2003(!) thread, "Favorite Bond Title Song?" It amused me that he expressed relief over FYEO's omission:

"Also good to see that nobody's mentioned "For Your Eyes Only", which I'm afraid is at the bottom of my list (okay, not quite bottom - I forgot about DAD)."

52) After England's quiet exit from the 2014 World Cup, someone on the football thread had a post stating that the team would have done better if they still had John Terry and Ashley Cole. big grin

Hilarious!

53) The Ado-Ron Hardcastle war police action in the "Any Boyzone Fans Out There?" topic. Here are four random, not-in-response-to-one-another quotes plucked from that chestnut of a thread:

Ado: "You are sounding almost hysterical, and perhaps there is some put upon outrage here, I am not really buying the level of shock and awe coming from you. I mean for gosh sake, get the hell over your astonishment that someone does not see this the same way you do already.

Get out of the house and get a drink or something.

Do I really care that you do not care about my point, why hell no, I really do not."

---------------

John Archibald: "In my day, just liking soundtracks automatically meant you were queer."
---------------

Ron Hardcastle: "You spend so much time disapproving of gay people, it makes me wonder: how many heterosexual guys do you know?

Men who are secure in their sexual identities couldn't care less what other people do.

But men who are not must project their fear outward as anger and hatred.

Unresolved issues..."

-----------------

Ron Hardcastle: "But what's the relevance??? You're like a diseased bee, flitting from flower to flower and leaving a trail of pestilence in your wake."

Let's please tread carefully. Ron Hardcastle was a good guy and since he's dead now, he can't come over here to set anything straight or expand upon something.

Yes, I know. frown

However, this thread doesn't require any record straightening or expanding; it merely references favorite posts over the years. smile
