When I was a child, some potato chips (Gordon's?) came with a silica gel packet enclosed. I always wanted to try the silica gel, but never could pluck up the courage to do so.

You know that was salt’n’shake, right?

For reasons I cannot explain, I have recently come to loathe the films of Clint Eastwood.

Let me help you out. His films have mostly sucked for quite some time.

His last good film was 2006 with Flag of Our Fathers, this recent stuff; 15:17 to Paris and Sully, are 20 minute stories stretched to 90 minutes of boredom without any sense of style or craft, while hammering the audience over the head about "good old fashioned (Christian) American values.

Never liked Clint Eastwood. Terrible actor, can't deliver a line if his life depended on it.

You jest, but the Man with No Name trilogy (and the first two Dirty Harry films) are about his only films I can still watch and enjoy without a second thought.

Strange.

Clint is not a Shakespearean actor. That's for sure. He can be rather bland. However, I did think he gave a stunning performance in Million Dollar Baby.

Every time I read through one of those "Battle of the Small-Eyed Nerds" debates over on the General Discussion, I'm relieved that most of those people don't post on this side of the forum.

Are you serious? Are you one of those people that still uses the word "retarded" and hasn't clued into the fact that it's disrespectful to mentally handicapped individuals? It's pretty common knowledge that that word can be very offensive these days if it's used casually and out of context, as you have.

I'm reclaiming the word.
I don't really care much for how the meaning of words get twisted according to the fads of the day.

Incidentally, it's only offensive if I call YOU retarded.

BTW, that retard stuff which began this thread never fails to lift my (retarded) spirits.

Another personal confession:

I'm in the midst of compiling a list of FSMers I consider to be "on the spectrum." and we ain't talkin' 'bout some early 1960s TV show...

I really don't hate Star Wars (1977-83 trilogy).

There are a few things I like about the 1980s--up until 1985. After that, you can have that decade.

It's great fun to tell a person they're argumentative because they immediately prove it when they assert that they aren't.

Sometimes when someone is talking to me face to face (and they're the type that demand eye contact), I'll slowly lower my right eyelid to about halfway down while looking them in the eye. It's funny to watch the discomfort that flashes in their expression.

In 1997 I went to see the AIR FORCE ONE movie on its opening weekend. However, the line to buy tickets for it was wrapped around the movie theater, so I didn't see it.

I still haven't seen it and probably never will.

I snuck in and watched Starship Troopers after paying to see another film in the theater.
