This is very disturbing.
Did we, FSM posters, drive Mr. Myerson out of the score mixing seminar business with our constant taunts?
Does Mr. Murphy know what he is in for; will he crack under the pressure?

You have misunderstood the purposes of this thread. It is primarily a fact-finding mission seeking to determine which FSMers applied to and subsequently attended the Alan Meyerson Score Mixing Seminar (In France).

This thread also honors Mr. Maestro Mixer Meyerson, his dog, and other film score mixing personnel.

This thread and its inhabitants also wish to know what, if anything, actually goes on at these clearly "hush hush" affairs. We can be pretty darned sure that FSM's more elite, status quo upholding posters did attend one or more of these film score mixing seminars (In France), but up until now have been preoccupied with correcting lesser FSMers in the errors of their ways to tell us anything.

We just have to be a little more patient...

I think I just Shatnered myself.

Does anyone here recall who the scoring mixer was on the Alan Fivehouse films? Even the reissue CDs don't credit anyone.

I heard on the grapevine that the great Stanley Rogers assumed knob-twiddling duties on one or more of them when he wasn't composing. I think he had a lot of time on his hands between jobs.

Mr. Rogers almost was hit with half of a cooked cabbage when a certain great detective realized he wasn't drinking an authentic French Bordeaux. Damn those New Zealand wines!!!

Regarding Mr. Murphy, I take him very seriously and trust that his seminar will command the laurel and hearty accolades which are most deserved.

Speaking of the place ... I quote: "It features state of art equipment and esoteric acoustic spaces."
Anyone have an idea what to make of an "esoteric acoustic space"? smile

It’s marketing-speak for “like a pub toilet”.

Maybe the thread title "The Alan Meyerson Score Mixing Seminar" should be changed to:

The Alan Meyerson/Shawn Murphy/??? Score Mixing Seminar

Leaving room for the next guy or gal.

Space permitted only adding the surname of the latest mixing master (in France) in the most hyperbolic manner possible.

As always, there's so much sophistication in your Fivehouse score-mixing anecdotes, Max. They have me (Chris) Pining for more.

Stanley Rogers was specifically asked for by composer Findlay Crawford.

Voice from on High! Shawn Murphy over in the "New" Star Wars 1-6 on May 4 thread:

These are new transfers from analog masters at 192/32 with edits matching the original soundtrack releases. These are the film mixes from the original sources, as best as can be obtained. Regards."

Thumbs up not for the news, but for the fact status quo FSMers are invoking the name of Shawn Murphy *outside* of this thread!

Hell, Hans Zimmer even included a tribute track to the Mix Master on disc 2 (track #8) of his fancy "Illuminated Star Projection Edition" of INTERSTELLAR. Endearingly he just titled the track "Murph", but us in the know people know it's by no means referring to the film character, of course. cool

... and, as you all will certainly have guessed already, it was mixed by a certain Alan Meyerson ...

Do score mixing personnel possess the same "quirky" humor as the technical guys who would make their private "in-joke" references in their Academy Awards acceptance speeches?

I'll bet they do. The second I saw that video with Alan Meyerson inteoducing his dog, Mixo, to everyone made me believe that score mixing personnel suffer from a glorious form of cabin fever.

I am pre-occupied with an Alan Fivehouse convention in Vermont.
