Alien Covenent - 7.5/10 Liked it better than Prometheus. I cannot trust you anymore. Why’s that, then? Was it rubbish and I just didn’t realise it? Or was Prometheus a classic and I’ve just dissed it? WHY?! Yes you should be a commander of a ship heading to paradise and make a decision to go to an unknown nightmare planet you know nothing about. And when you get there japanese bureaucrats are discussing how to unleash shin gojira onto the xenomorph!!!

Meet mr callaghan 1954 Noir-ish b&w private detective thriller. Derrick de marney plays wise-cracking fast-talking slim callaghan, investigating a murder over a will in a rich family. Harriette johns plays the posh totty. Decent music with a jaunty main title fitting a scruffy and dodgy investigator that worked in the same way Barry's ipcress theme did. 7.5 out of 10. Enjoyable. Better than covenant and prometheus. Currently showing on Talkingpictures uk channel.

The first two Alien films for me, I just pretend that the others don't exist. I'm going to respond to you on this, Rameau, seeing that you haven't been disrespectful... I'm not so wound up about the Alien films that I'm particularly bothered about continuity between the films. I'm not even sure I've seen all of them - certainly not the AvP crossover films. I quite like the feel of the first one, and the second one seemed to drag on for hours and hours the first time I saw it, so it was a long, long time before I saw it for the second (and so far, last) time. I liked Brian Glover and Winona Ryder in their respective iterations (were they in the same film?) but otherwise nothing much stood out in the next two films. I didn't care for Prometheus when we saw it about a year ago. I'm not sure I could describe the plot when the end credits were rolling, let alone now. Covenant was at least more straightforward to follow, even if the twist was pretty obvious, and the characters had time to develop and become identifiable as individuals. I thought Jed Kurzel made a decent fist of the score. It's clearly set up for a Covenant 2, but I'm not much bothered if one gets made or not, to be honest.

Your henry-like enthusiasm for the series pours out of every sentence!! I particularly liked "were Brian glover and winona ryder in the same film?"

Accident Man 3.7/10. A British action film based on an early 1990s comic I used to read. The pros are the action scenes are clearly directed and pretty well choreographed though often overlong and suffer the usual problem of punches not hurting until they have to. The main lead is ok too, just about enough acting ability and presence. Ray Stevenson mugs but it pretty fun in it. The cons are it looks like a daytime soap, the acting is mostly bad or mugging and the score is an upbeat "cool" score that only registers when it irritates. Might have been actually good with a better director, more money and a different cast and score and cinematographer.

Bad Grandpa 2.1/10 some funny moments, some good stunts but ultimately didn't work for me at all.
