Sorry I missed this. It would be nice if they pressed another 500 or so? I guess it's wishful thinking. I don't know, call me crazy, but about twelve times in this thread I've said drop me a line so I'll say it a thirteenth, since it's Friday the 13th.

I had the Varése edition of this score, respected what it did, but never really warmed up to it overmuch. I ordered this edition along with a few other titles because I was hoping that the new program and better sonics (Kritzerland records always have great sound) would give new life to this score for me. It's always a gamble to contemplate buying something that's already in your collection that you're not too keen on, but Goldsmith does have a tendency to reward hanging in there. I was very pleased with this edition. I rarely played the Varése disc, but I've already spun this disc a couple of times. I agree with those who say that the combination of the reverb and the very hot mastering made for a difficult listen. The cleaner and more balanced sound on the Kritzerland disc drew me in, and I think that the additional music makes the score flow better. I don't regret this purchase at all.

Bruce, I have purchased quite a few releases from you, but after hearing this new release of Poltergeist 2 I must say that it is perhaps the worst presentation of a Jerry Goldsmith score ever! Just kidding. I have to join along with everyone else in singing praises for what is an outstanding presentation of one of my favorites of the 80's JG. The 4 extra tracks, although less than a minute long each, add to the overall experience, and the sound that you and James have obtained from the masters is quite phenomenal, besting the Varese edition in practically every way. It IS like hearing the score for the first time. I too also appreciate the extra tracks you included. Thank you very much for taking the time and forking out all that dough to make those of us lucky enough to have obtained this release very happy. Cheers!

As a loyal Jerry fan, I am pleased to hear what is probably going to be the best that this score will ever sound. The heavy reverb inherent in the source can get distracting, and compared tot he score for the first film, this one somewhat lacks the white-hot inspiration of top-drawer Goldsmith. But that said, Bruce's version is probably the most pleasant experience I've had listening to Poltergeist II. The reverb in the source was the room. That's why it was so shocking to find they'd ADDED reverb on top of that for the previous releases, and the huge verb they put on the choir then added even MORE. All that's gone now But Jerry, starting around this time, began to favor that kind of washy sound - none of his early scores have it - none of his mid-career scores have it. But his late 80s and 90s output do.

My copy has safely arrived with the exception of the inside CD tray being broken off the hinges. Fellow Canadians should expect to receive theirs too, if they don't have them already. Looking very nice indeed. Are the online liner notes different than the printed booklet? Notes are the same.
