I recently picked up a nice print of the film and thus ordered THEY WON'T STAY DEAD! Got it today. Fantastic album! Thanks to all who's research and efforts made this such a success.
Did it happen to be the happinet blu-ray? I imported it from amazon japan some time ago and it looks stunning.
No, a print. A film print. 16mm. The original release was actually edited from a 16mm reduction print from the 35mm negative material. That's why it had a grainey, more verite look to it. The print I got is one of the originals struck by CineMagnetics.

Nice! I did notice that the 40th anniversary blu-ray I got is cropped compared to the US Millennium Edition DVD of which the transfer was supposedly derived from 35mm. Still a considerable upgrade quality-wise.
Is this still available or out of print? I couldn't find it anywhere, but I went to the autopsy of the dead website where it was first sold and put in an order. Think I'll actually get it?
This thread inspired me to order a copy through the Autopsy of the Dead site. Just showed up today. Listening now. Great clear sound. Lots of informative liner notes, too. I have no idea why I didn't pick this up sooner.
Even 6 years later, I'm still listening to this. As a fan of library cues - as well as loving the hell out of the movie - this music really holds a special place in my heart. The sound quality is outstanding. Many belated thanks for all of the tireless work getting this out to the masses.

I'm friends with the guy (Jim) who put this out and he told me how much effort it was to put this out. CRAZY amount of effort. Literally traveling the globe to find the best available sources and dealing with so many entities and estates and publishers. I was literally exhausted after he told me how much effort he had to give for this release, but my goodness what a great release this is even after 6 years later.
I'm glad he went to such lengths! The final product sounds fantastic and is a priceless addition to the collection of any Romero fan. Who knew a bunch of library cues from various composers could form such a cohesive sound and atmosphere and work so well together in telling a narrative. Truly one of the all-time great film music releases.
Does anyone know if this CD is still being sold somewhere? It's been out of print for years. Even the insanely priced copies have disappeared from amazon marketplace and ebay.
I admire your dedication in working for years and years on this music. I have your Zero Day Releasing CD and I treasure it. It's one of my favorites. I've always believed that NOTLD is the best library music score ever. Romero and Hardman did a superb job in their music selections for the individual scenes.
It's interesting that now you are using the film's title instead of They Won't Stay Dead.
I like the library score to THE CRAZIES even a little bit more !! But that's maybe because I just love renditions of 'Johnny comes marching home' in film scores. Especially also in 'Dr. Strangelove'.

This isn't an LP release of They Won't Stay Dead. The Waxwork Records soundtrack is licensed from Image Ten, Inc. and contains audio that was discovered when the original film elements were taken in by the Museum of Modern Art. All of the Capitol Hi-Q tracks were also newly restored from sources that for the most part, weren't available when I produced They Won't Stay Dead.
