Ordered all five of them and a few extras for friends.

Varese remains the big boy on the block. Here's to another 35 years!

smile Cannot agree more.

This Oct 22 announcement has not one but FOUR titles between 1985 & 1990!

Only one from the 1970s, and nothing from either the 1960s or 1950s.

A "Holloween" batch that's more trick than treat.

Wow must suck to be that one lonely guy left out in the cold. razz

I'd say based on the overwhelmingly positive feedback on this batch, this has been quiet a treat for the members of this board.

Agreed! I love horror scores as much as the next guy, but I'm quite confident that Varese will release them sooner or later. In any case, the surprise will be just as sweet.

Maybe we're dreaming if we expect a vintage North soundtrack.

Why would this be a dream?

Varèse has consistently released North's scores. His music is a passion of Robert Townson's. But that doesn't mean that there are unreleased North scores sitting around at studios that Varèse works with available to them. Desire to do something and ability to do something are not the same.

Never fear, the North thirst will be satisfied soon smile

This is a nice batch indeed. I have the Scott and Broughton but the others are all mine.

Whew - I was able to sell some stuff on eBay and get enough funds to purchase some awesome new Vareses! September and October were killer months on my finances. I'm loving this Encore Series. Its like a second chance for fans like myself who were clueless teens when these titles were first released (and long out of print by the time I was old enough to want them). Listening to The Boy Who Could Fly samples...seriously...Mr. Broughton needs to work more often. smile Beautiful, amazing scoring going on there. And Enemy Mine was pretty much expected given the recent isolated score on the Blu-Ray. I'm really not that into Blu-Rays and don't even have a player yet, but I had considered getting it just for this score. The movie is just so-so for me, so a standard DVD would suffice. So as soon as Varese announced this CD, I removed the Blu-Ray from my pending Screen Archives cart. I can't wait to listen to the CD. smile

This batch was closer to what the Club releases used to be like on a constant basis; if this becomes a continuing trend, then the Varese Club is back baby!

Nice selection to appeal to wide cross section of film music fandom. RED PONY ordered, DIE HARD 2 thought about, but passed on (must have room in wallet for STAR TREK box).

Well - I said 'pass' for encore titles yesterday, but after reading all this reviews, ordered Man on fire (along with KK lives) from Intrada.
By the way, seems that it's already gone from Intrada store...

I thought this was a great batch. I had to pass on Die Hard, but ordered Man on Fire as well as Red Pony and Boy Who Could Fly. I was little bumbed that there wasn't a holiday title and I doubt that there will be another club release before Christmas. Here's hoping Intrada or La La Land will surprise us.

You don't say! Who said that the gouging started in 1987?

Sounds like teabagger reasoning to me

What?

I thought we used the term "speculator" around here to describe people who snapped up copies of a limited item with the idea of selling it soon thereafter at inflated prices. I was just saying that that wouldn't have been possible with this CD.

I can see how that makes me a know-it-all. But a teabagger? What?

My apologies. English is a second language to me and I believe I mistook teabagger for tea partier. My sincere apologies once again.

As for being a know-it-all, I think that you are somewhat deluded as you seem to know very little. Blowhard would probably be more apt. smile

Have a nice tea party, jerk!
