Re: While film music is best known for it's instrumental achievements, many singers have over the years sung film composer's music. Sometimes right from the original soundtracks, Sometimes on the singer's own albums. Like my other thread PRETTY MUSIC OF GENRE MUSIC, I would like to delve deeply into film music that has been sung by singers over the years. Like the other thread some people might be surprise to find certain film themes did actually have vocal versions done on them. If you like, please add to this ongoing list with your own selections.

With 21 PAGES of responses, I don't know if these have been covered, but let me post them anyway. First, there's Liza Minnelli, who did a song version of a principal theme from Maurice Jarre's music for "Ryan's Daughter;" which was called "It Was A Good Time" and became a staple in her concerts, and if she ever acknowledged Jarre, I missed it. Next there's Jane Olivor, who sang "Daydreams" in her concerts and the live recording, and its music was taken from Georges Delerue's gorgeous "Rich And Famous." And in her great "One Night In Eden" concert video, Sarah Brightman tells us of her YEARS of trying to get Ennio Morricone to allow her to fashion a song out of his main theme to "The Mission," and apparently she finally wore him down and he wearily relented, and it became the beautiful "Nella Fantasia" and is now practically a staple of crossover artists -- I have several versions of it in my own collection, although instrumentalists have been making magic with Morricone's "Mission" music for years.
