It is also one of the newer holidays. Do you feel that has something to do with the reason it has not become a big day, The fast moving world of today can't adjust to the old ideas of a new holiday breaking into the mainstream. I think people see it for what it is. Another attempt to get people to spend their money on gifts. Let it fall by the wayside. You gotta pay respect to your grannies and grandpas. After all there was "Father's Day" and "Mother's Day". I have two grandparents left -- my mom's mom (who is in reasonably good health) and my dad's mom (who is in poor health). Now that I'm a grandfather myself, am I getting gypped?! Nah, our family has always celebrated our grandfathers on Father's Day and our gradmothers on Mother's Day.
