Alien: "Big Five-O. What is Big Five-O? ToneRow: "Oh, don't worry about that. It's no reference to the cult TV series Hawaii Five-O. It's an expression we use to talk about the number fifty. You see? Fifty. 5 and O. And The Outer Limits will be fifty years old very soon. It's a great show. A lot of us humans love it:" Alien: "Love it? Love. What is love?" ToneRow: "It's a brilliant and moving film from Hungary. One of my favourites from 1971."

"Galaxy being" and "Hundred days of the dragon" were good episodes in an often extremely disappointing series. These were also, D.S., both straightfoward narratives. I'm not very fond of "The Hundred Days Of The Dragon"; I expect indivduals from other countries may not think that Chinese/Asians are automatically threats. We understand, grasshopper. Please snatch the pebble from my hand.

I recall that the series received a big promotional buildup during the summer of 1963, and I eagerly awaited that first episode. I wasn't disappointed, and I was a regular viewer during that first season. Not so much during the second. My favorite episode (and I'm definitely not alone on this) was "The Zanti Misfits." The series is certainly well remembered for a show that lasted only a season and a half. "There is nothing wrong with your television set. Do not attempt to adjust the picture. We are controlling transmission. If we wish to make it louder, we will bring up the volume. If we wish to make it softer, we will tune it to a whisper. We will control the horizontal. We will control the vertical. We can roll the image, make it flutter. We can change the focus to a soft blur or sharpen it to crystal clarity. For the next hour, sit quietly and we will control all that you see and hear. We repeat: there is nothing wrong with your television set. You are about to participate in a great adventure. You are about to experience the awe and mystery which reaches from the inner mind to – The Outer Limits."

Hi, Adam I'm curious to learn what is it about "The Guests" which you find so disagreeable? Hi Tonerow, OL is one of my favorite shows as well, even though I find 60% of it unwatchable. Heck, Space: 1999 is also a favorite and I discarded the whole second season! But, to answer your question.... Sometimes the shoestring episode budgets make any attempt at quality futile for me, whether it be the glowing blob "monster" or the nonsensical dialogue. The giant brain morphs into a house and back again by story end. When watching these episodes, all I can do is wish the episode hadn't been made at all. If you have no decent teleplay and no workable budget then just don't do it. I know they had to deliver something on a regular basis but in my view they failed more often than not. The conclusion of The Special One was just filler. The scene drags on and on and on and it's clear the writers had no ending for it. That said, I did enjoy Behold, Eck! quite a bit. Best episodes - The Galaxy Being The Man Who Was Never Born The Zanti Misfits (even with the Zanti puppets-on-a-string ending) Soldier Demon With a Glass Hand Hundred Days of the Dragon Nightmare Controlled Experiment The Bellero Shield The Chameleon I, Robot The Premonition Fun and Games
